squares vs. oppositions

So I’m thinking Sam has Jupiter conjunct Frodo’s Saturn.

Yeah right ?!  I want my own gardener, protector, carry me and the Devils ring up the mountain dude too. haha   Who doesn’t ?

My former husband’s Jupiter was conjunct my natal Saturn Rx exact – trust me it was awesome, very beneficial ~

Venus is conjunct Jupiter in Taurus – big giant earth trine above us, and I am thinking Hobbits. Hobbits are super – mega earth – they stick around when the going gets tough.  I get  Sam, all the hobbits, really – I am Cap rising, Saturn ruler, Moon in Toro, Virgo stellium.  I garden, hunt mushrooms, and I’ve tossed back a few pints in my day.

Sam is heroic in my book, as are the rest of the fellowship.

Each was dealing with personal conflicts (squares), dynamics within the fellowship + orcs  (oppositions), and they were power operating together (conjunctions).

I have the most trouble with my Scorpio Neptune squares to Venus conj Jupiter in Leo 8th.  My Neptune opposition to Moon is no picnic, but the squares were (are) my huge hurdle.

I go on a quite a bit about heroes here, and for the record- you can count me out as far as vacuous celebs and murderers are concerned – they have had the mic long enough !   Here you will find people I find worthy of emulating, people who inspire through overcoming huge personal obstacles.

 Some natal charts have only squares, some only oppositions – Georgia O’Keefee for example, only had oppositions – no squares.

Think of her life, it becomes obvious – she was her own woman, very self- assured, an art rebel.  She ditched the lucrative glad-handing NY arts scene for an adobe home in the middle of no + where ( it is – I’ve been there, and I love New Mexico, I mean no disrespect, I am a small town gal myself) to do her own thing.

So I am thinking she most admired those people who rescued others.

By the same reasoning, I am thinking those who have difficult squares in their own natal are most inspired by those who overcome personal obstacles.

Void moons are traditionally a time of inner contemplation and inaction, a time when the moon is adrift without an anchoring aspect until it reaches the next sign.  Emotions, instincts and sensitivities are susceptible to fuzzy logic.  Void moons operate similar to dark moons and are a wonderful time to replenish the spirit.

Full Moon in Virgo on Thursday March 8th at 3:39 am, CST, USA.

It is a day of energies in tandem :

Mercury and Uranus in Aries
(fire- active thinking, communicating and intuition)

Full Moon and Mars Rx in Virgo
(Feelings coupled with an inward focus of personal will and desires)

Venus and Jupiter in Taurus
(earth- steady growth with $$, creativity and love)

Sun will be opposite (Full) Moon and Mars Rx in Virgo

Grand Earth Trine
On Wednesday, March 14th – all at 9 degrees – exact – 12:50 am, CST, USA.

Venus is coming to conjunct Jupiter in Taurus (benefics, both) they will be trine Pluto in Capricorn and Mars Rx in Virgo.

Grand Earth Trine energy is a harmonious, beneficial and co-operative expression of energy – the planets involved are moving energies in the same nature Earth it signifies a time for growth on the material plane.

Taurus rules finance and possessions, financial and self – worth.  Venus is love, money and creativity – it will be conjunct the planet of expansion and luck, Jupiter in the house of finance.  They are in trine to Pluto the transformation energy in Capricorn the sign of big business, career and ambitions.  They are also in trine to Moon and Mars, which puts an emotional kicker behind the Mars Rx in Virgo.

Mars Rx in Virgo energy – I have witnessed of late – is no doubt a more thoughtful, delayed Mars energy because it is in the house of the discerning eye, Virgo  perfectionism.  Instead of single-minded pursuit of one vision / one action, the Mars Rx energy I have experienced is sorted at the get go – meaning it is not full thrust in one direction, but compartmentalized prior; it feels like only so much energy is available, or allotted to each task.

Virgo is Mercury ruled, Mercury is the mind – channel it carefully as thoughts become tangible things, Mars Rx is the mind put to detail and the energy follows inward. It has expressed itself to me in fits and starts of productivity, multi-tasking and bouts of monkey mind – nip the negative and replace with positive – being flexible is key.  Virgos can be rigid, but the house of Virgo really needs to compromise with (opposite sign) and draw upon the classic Pisces surrender for this passage of Mars Rx and Mercury Rx.

Keep a firm grip on the positive and go with the flow.

Mercury Retrograde Monday, March 12 – 2:49 am, CST, USA.

Mercury going retrograde will bring it back to meet Uranus for a second time, it’s higher octave.  Gut feelings and intuition on a personal inward level will be high, revelations on the inner plane of self will be forthcoming and very enlightening.

Look to your house of Aries for more clues – Mercury and Uranus will be forming new solutions, creating brainstorms, and changing the way everything ~ eyesight and second sight ~ is SEEN.

Mercury Retrograde in the house of Aries and Mars Retrograde in the house of Virgo brings the 2 planets into mutual reception, they will be working well together in tandem, in each others houses to find the best personal solutions to actions (Mars / Aries) and communications (Mercury / Virgo) on a personal (and global) level.

Mercury Rx / Aries is more thought out and less knee-jerk, yet still shooting sparks and taking action – Aries is the I AM – this and the house of Aries in your chart is where to look.  Mars Rx in Virgo is action compartmentalized and detailed tweaking on the mental plane.

sweet & steady

Lovely Venus has sauntered into Taurus, the sign of her rulership.
She is happy and comfortable here, she feels secure and is able to flourish with slow and steady work and progress.

Venus brings good fortune to your house of Taurus !

Fly buzzing me yesterday evening, over and over right in my face.  It’s not fly season, maybe the wind blew him in. Previous Uranian fly totem post here.

Serious winds of change happening last few days, major wind gusts out of the south all morning that suddenly switched to out of the north in the afternoon.

Swan sighting on my lake that sent me and the neighbor outside to in the early am to gawk.  I have lived on this lake for over 10 years and have seen swans twice.


This lovely white fellow is a juvenile tundra swan.

Swan totem:
To the Greeks, the swan was the bird of Apollo.
Apollo, the god of music, was associated with the swan because of the mythic belief that the swan would sing with exquisite beauty at the point of death–the swan song.

The Greek love goddess Aphrodite had three bird familiars: the dove, swan, and goose. A sixth century B.C.E. statue shows her standing on a giant swan; in one hand she carries a sacred casket, symbol of her secret knowledge of death and rebirth. In another terra cotta image, Aphrodite sits on a throne made of two swans.

Hindu deities often interchanged the goose and the swan, which represented breath and spirit. How cool is that ?!  The swan was a mount for the goddess Sarasvati and sometimes Brahama. The heavenly nymphs, called the apsaras, were often portrayed as swans. The goddess Devi rides a swan that wears a necklace.

Several Celtic folk legends tell of the mystical sacred swan. Its feathers were used in ritual cloaks by the Bards since swans are connected with music and song. People who shape-shifted into swans were identified by gold or silver chains around their necks.

Norse legend also speaks of this shape-shifting as one form which the Valkyries could take; they were called swan maidens. As an alchemical symbol, the swan stood for Mercury.
