myths & monuments

Graham HancockGraham Hancock

Graham Hancock is a British writer and journalist specializing in unconventional theories involving ancient civilizations, stone monuments/megaliths, altered states of consciousness, ancient myths and astronomical/astrological data from the past. One of the main themes running through his books is a posited global connection with a “mother culture” from which he believes all ancient historical civilizations sprang.  (wiki)

As many of my regular readers know, I am a big fan of cleaning with (Virgo 9) and falling asleep listening to lectures.  (Sagittarius Mars in 12)  I am also a big fan of Graham, who consistently delivers the curious/unusual and thought-provoking from sites around the globe.

Graham is a Leo Sun (ruling) conjunct (8 degree orb) Pluto trine Sagittarius Chiron Rx.  Fantastic placement for Chiron, a centaur body, naturally curious – the eternal student/teacher.  Chiron the hopeful healer in the sign of higher philosophies and the Big Picture signifies a man who will travel, study, and expand horizons wherever he goes and teach and help countless others in the process.  His study and consequent teachings will revolutionize how we SEE the world.

Driven by a quest for the Truth, he will find obstacles where authority is concerned (Chiron square Virgo Saturn) but he will also find a creative tension that is very rewarding when unlocking the puzzles of time and myths and monuments built on earth. (Saturn)

Pisces Jupiter trines Cancer Venus conjunct Uranus – both yin water signs of nurturing and healing, reflect his deeply felt care for our earth and herstory.  Venus conjunct Uranus in Cancer is an interesting combo – simultaneously separating from dogmatic science yet embracing the relationship in a deeply personal fashion. This aspect likely attracts scientists and oddballs in equal measure, it also points to a love of ideas.

Mars and Neptune are placed in Libra the sign of love, balance and a deep appreciation for beauty.  Mars sextiles Mercury (ruling) in Virgo, its lone aspect (separating 5 degrees) that calls for action and speaking personal truth (Mercury opposes Jupiter) creating/fostering bonds and harmonious relationships between all people to the universal source – Life – in its myriad of forms.  This is also strengthened by Virgo (earth) Saturn sextile Venus in Cancer.

Graham has Moon in late Pisces or early Aries (no exact deets), either way, moon is conjunct North Node at 29 Pisces the culmination of all culmination degrees – the last degree of the last sign of the zodiac, this points to embracing the vast transcendence, letting go of intellectual ‘boxes’ and allowing feelings and intuition to take the reins.
North Node here is a call to head into the mystic, trust the universe to open with spiritual purpose on the life’s journey.

Graham_stonehengeLastly, Virgo Saturn (time, structures) is quintile (genius expression/talents) Uranus signaling his revolutionary science, progressive ideas that are solidly built upon the past.

Earthman

vyacheslav-mishchenko6Vyacheslav Mishchenko

The doctrine that matter is unconscious which science is based on traps scientists into thinking that the entire universe – the stars, the galaxies, all the other planets, everything else on this planet – is unconscious.  That we for some peculiar evolutionary reason have become conscious, but our conscious doesn’t do anything.  That is the world view that most scientists have, and I think it is a deeply unsatisfactory one.
If we take the idea that material systems can be conscious, then all sorts of new questions come up – for example – the sun is a complex material system, could the sun in some sense have a mind or be conscious or be aware ?

Rupert Sheldrake

Vyacheslav Mishchenko 2Biologist Rupert Sheldrake is a big hero of mine.
He SEES nature the way I do – he is bursting with curiosity towards all life, with an open mind that craves exploration, new perspectives – most importantly – he USES what he SEES to make connections between all life forms.

I have listened to several of his lectures with Terence McKenna et al.  I love the philosophical banter, friendly conversation, exploring ideas from differing perspectives with like-minded explorers. Trilogues here.  The interview that features the quote above is below this post, and yet another interview (I have not heard it yet) will likely show up in comments later tonight or tomorrow.

vyacheslav-mishchenko7

Rupert is a Scorpio rising ( ! ) Cancer Sun conjunct Jupiter (exalted) opposite Moon in Capricorn.
Very caring (Cancer) and delightfully philosophical, he is a whiz at balancing (7th house) elemental principles – fire/inspiration, earth/material, water/emotions, and sky/mind.

He is one whammy thinker with a 4 planet Gemini stellium straddling the 7/8 houses.  Venus conjunct Uranus and Saturn in 7 – Mercury (ruling) Gemini in the 8th house of deep research, metaphysics and UNCOVERING the UNSEEN depths.

Venus conjunct Uranus is a love of the wild – doubly so conjunct Saturn or Earth and with all three trine Neptune in late Virgo he represents ALL sizes and forms of life.
Neptune feels it, believes it – then Virgo PROVES it.

Responsibilities to stewardship of our planet, all planets and all life is part and parcel of North Node of Destiny in Virgo conjunct Midheaven from the 10th.

vyacheslav-mishchenko8Leo Chiron conjunct Mars Pluto in the 9th is incredible !
Bulldozing the teachings of those who indeed need a kick in the seat of the pants for being so mistakenly CLOSE-MINDED and dogmatic regarding their one true scientific principles as irrefutable.  Ridiculous !
Science is ever-changing, as is all life !  Rupert has undergone huge backlash for his statements like the quote above – he is a trailblazer, far ahead of his time, and in my mind, to be honored for speaking out !

Those who are unafraid of speaking their truth are the wisest and bravest of all.
Well done, Rupert, Well done.
In honor of Earth Day 2014.

when are we ?

Understanding the workings of the heavens gave the ancient navigators an anchor in time from which one could calculate an estimated location on a map.

Many scientists originally thought the Antikythera Mechanism, which is believed to be 2000 years old, was a piece of navigational equipment.

Little did they know it would be one of the most important scientific measuring devices ever discovered.
This video describes its shipwreck origins.

::::::::::::::::

::::::::::::::::

The Antikythera Mechanism is the
earliest preserved portable astronomical calculator, calculating the Sun, Moon and likely the positions of the inner planets which were known in antiquity.
The mechanism was used to predict solar and lunar eclipses.

This video shows how the gear assembly works – fantastic !
Saturn = time
Uranus = machines

thought seeds

Don Ivan Punchatz

Fearlessly hopeful or foolishly fearless ?
Thought seeds.

HOPE.
FEAR.

CHOOSE.

I have so such on my mind this past week, symptomatic of Saturn (my ruler is Saturn Rx in 3rd thinking, rules hands) and Mercury (my MC planet, highball) in retrograde.

We are ALL feeling it:
Rewind, review, rework, re-invent, re-structure, reintegrate communication

Restriction on Mercurial communication is part and parcel of natal Merc Rx; Saturn in Gemini, Virgo, 3rd or 6th; or Virgo, Gem on 10th: Mercury in 10 or Capricorn.

Only when Merc goes haywire does the world freak – omg WTF happened ?!?!
Communication breakdown…patience is called for.
 Oh how well do I know this.

Thought Funnel.

This very moment in and of itself makes me think of Stephen Hawking.

Stephen has a grand earth trine – Sun and Mercury Capricorn; Moon conjunct Neptune in Virgo; Saturn conjunct Uranus in Taurus.  Conjunctions are POWER OPERATING.

Stephen also has a T-Square with Mars is the focal planet in late degree Aries (leading pioneer in forward thrust); Mercury in the later degrees of Capricorn (achievement) opposing Pluto in Leo (metamorphic  expression).

He is fueled by so much to achieve and a “how – to – say” particularism that is message to Earth channelled by fire rushing into late restricted Earth.  God/goddess bless, I tear up, because in a small way, I am similar.  I asked for visuals because I tried to understand the words and theories that were beyond me, except in pictures.

I understand visuals so much more so than words: my typing is horrendous, my thoughts are moving beyond my ability to type.

Is this how you feel, what you encounter everyday ?  The ultimate funneling of Mercury restricted..onto the earth plane ?  If so, please allow me to thank you for being so patient while we try to keep up.

Smile.

My world is better for you in it.
Thank you, Sir.
You are a hero of mine, yes indeed.

Renaissance point

Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci was an amazing Italian Renaissance polymath: painter, sculptor, architect, musician, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist, and writer.  and that is just scratching the surface…

He conceptualized a helicopter, a tank, concentrated solar power, a calculator, the double hull and outlined a rudimentary theory of plate tectonics, and drew one of the first scientific drawings of a fetus in utero. (wiki)

Taurus Sun with Toro Venus in applying trine to Neptune in Libra at MC, genius creative expression !  Sagittarius rising – expressive and expansive – Jupiter is in Pisces 3rd of learning conjunct Moon.

Aquarius Mars trine Saturn exalted in Libra 10th: Leonardo was an idea machine – invent, conceptualize, research, sketch, design and build futuristic machinery.

The illustration below seemed appropriate for the Uranus, Pluto, Venus T-square.
Freaky drawing of coffin contraption with gyroscope !  ?
Dunno, is weird and fascinating whatever it is.
::::::::::

Eighth house Pluto and Uranus – highly observant – he learned anatomy in detail through dissecting cadavers (Venus quintile Pluto).  He drew detailed bone studies, and the pregnancy drawing you see above, as well as detailed drawings of architecture, water devices, animals, faces of rage, deformities, and machines of his own design.

Saturn in 10 wants to know how everything works, Neptune at MC absorbs the world like a sponge.  Neptune and Saturn in 10 are both opposite Aries Mercury in 4. Mercury trines Leo Pluto – he certainly changed the world through creative expression.

Curiously, most of Leonardo’s writings are in mirror-image cursive, perhaps it was easier because he was left-handed, or maybe it was for reasons of secrecy, perhaps both, no one knows.

As you can see, his drawings and sketches were extremely detailed and highly researched – Virgo precision at MC and Aries Mercury in trine to Pluto in Leo.

The animation above delineates the sacred geometry of the golden rectangle, which is more easily seen in colored portions below.

Da Vinci and others (including the architect Palladio) helped to revive this knowledge of sacred geometry and its application after the so-called “Dark Ages.”

Apart from the monks in Ireland, most of the older knowledge was preserved by Arabic culture that translated older Greek and Roman works into Arabic. These works were retranslated back into Latin and other European languages by scholars working in cross-cultural universities in renaissance Spain.
::::::

Study on the proportions of head and eyes

You can see above the geometry da Vinci applied to sketching human faces.  Obviously mirror image writing and building with polarities (Uranus sextile Venus in 6th) appealed with Mars in Aquarius in trine to Saturn in the tenth of achievement.

This mathematical precision (sacred geometry) is applied to Mona Lisa below, I am sure there is another for the Last Supper floating around as well.  I will look, pop into comments.

Which brings me to the point of this post.
Mercury is numbers, counting, perceptions.
Saturn is mathematics.

Saturn
(traditional ruler of the fixed sign Aquarius)
is form and matter – the building blocks – earth plane..

Uranus is the higher octave of numbers, counting and perceptions.

Uranus is spirals.
The geometric electrical energy grid that connects all life on earth.

Which leads me to believe Uranus rules sacred geometry as well as Saturn.

Thoughts . . .?

A fun morph.

Leonardo is asteroid 3000.
Da Vinci has it exact conjunct North Node in Capricorn.

Consider Leonardo your renaissance point !

Currently Leonardo is at 10 Cancer.
Dark Moon in Cancer is at 10 degrees as I write this !
Interesting it is dovetailing into the renaissance T- Square Action, yes ?
Venus will soon follow to conjunct – she is at 6 Cancer.

Final Frontier

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Terence McKenna

Sun conjunct Venus (conjunct ASC) in Scorpio, Jupiter also in Scorpio, all in the 12th house of the collective unconscious.  (Chiron is also Scorpio, in the 11th.)
Pretty amazing.

Scorpios love research and Terence was a shaman who devoted his life to exploratory research of the worlds of hallucinogenic drugs.

He had Virgo Moon (at MC – Moon is the well of the psyche- the unconscious and it rules his 8th house) in square to all his personal planets – yet it was quintile Uranus.  His Uranus was a singleton (no major aspects) in Gemini.  (See Jeff Bridges under actors – he has a singleton Uranus as well.)  Uranus unaspected operates as a maverick’s  maverick  – it truly in every sense operates on instinct alone, wild and free.

Uranus is quincunx 12th house Venus showing a need to adapt and improvise – perfect – think of how he had to adapt when speaking and communicating his other-worldly vision quests so they could be understood or useful to others.  North Node of Destiny is in Gemini as well, making Terence a communicator, esp with Mercury conjunct Mars.

Terence had Saturn conjunct Pluto in Leo in 9, serious reasearch of the creative spirit, of all life and our place within the vast universe that crosses all ethno-species time-space dimensional barriers.

Saturn and Pluto squared Jupiter in Scorpio from the 9th to the 12th – so interesting, yes ..?  He did not physically travel to other worlds, but within his mind, in a drug induced state – yes, he explored new horizons within the human universe – the final frontier – THE MIND.

I saved Neptune for last because it is the Drug Planet.
Terence had Neptune in Libra sextile his Sagittarius Mercury, Mars conjunction ( there are his actions thrown behind  expansive, mind-altering vision quests).

His Neptune was also sextile his Saturn, Pluto conjunction in Leo (he shines a light on teaching from the depths of his deep mind diving research – 12th house Scorp Sun).

Lastly, his Saturn Pluto conjunction in Leo 9 was trine his Mercury and Mars in Sagittarius in the first house.   Fire to fire, willpower aimed at communicating visions and new horizons – opening doors of perceptions was how he rolled.

Moon at MC, indicates fluctuation (and the public) and interestingly enough, some saw Terence as a kook, some saw him as a visionary, some saw him as a modern- day scientist / shaman / researcher,  some saw him as a green eco-warrior waving a flag of peace and calling for balance and respect for all life forms.

However the world sees him, Terence was VISIONARY and ahead of his time.
RIP Terence.
