Mercury goes Retrograde November 24 at 20 degrees of Sagittarius, direct on December 12 at 4 degrees of Sagittarius.
Retrograde is when the planet in question appears to go backwards from the vantage point of the earth.
It is a time to re-consider, re-evaluate, re-invent all things written, spoken, thought or travelled in the previous Mercury cycle.  It is a time of slowing the outgoing messages and increasing the intake, a time of review, and revision.

I love this image, and have used it before — so he may just be my Mercury retrograde ‘go to guy’, many thanks to Andy Park, illustrator.

Ok, now down to the nitty gritty of this retrograde regarding communication in the sign of far reaching vision, Sagittarius.
Every chart has a theme, a central point that is the emphasis of the life or event in question.  

This eclipse chart emphasis points to a change in direction revolving around the central theme of communication – both personally and globally.  As I mentioned in this post, the eclipse can be felt leading up to and for many months afterward as planets make aspects to the eclipse point.

I graduated with a communications degree and incidents of late have me concerned to say the least.

I have Mercury (communication) in Libra (sign of balance) at MC or midheaven at the top (peak experience) of my chart, I am a 9th house (natural house of Sagittarius and visionary higher learning and study) Virgo Sun (Mercury rules Virgo) conjunct wildcard Uranus and metamorphosis Pluto.

Personal back story : I grew up on a rural route with a party line phone.  That means several houses on my road shared the same phone number, but each house had a different ring indicating who was being dialed.  Anyone on the line could pick up and listen, but politeness (Jupiter and Venus ruled and are conjunct in my chart) dictated if you mistakenly picked up, you excused yourself, apologized and hung up the phone. (except when the news was juicy, lol ! ha kidding !)  I remember gathering around the tv for the moon landing, Elvis live from Hawaii (both huge memories for me) and the tweaking of tinfoil and rabbit ears for good reception.  The advent of FM radio in the late 60’s early 70’s was orgasmic to a Taurus Moon (sensate art) girl with Saturn (rules hearing, in addition to Mercury) as chart ruler.  I remember listening to Beatles 45’s with my older sister (Ringo, if you were wondering; me- George) and this cool new swing-arm thinger that let us stack 45’s so we could hear 4 or 5 songs in a row– they would drop down automatically — one after another, so we could dance longer.  Amazing, huh !?  lol.  Fast forward to 24 hour Music television and I had a personal revelation, a second coming of sorts — music is huge for me with Neptune most highly aspected, and here it was, artistry multiplied – audio and visual – all day and night.  My parents literally had to drag me away from it every night.  I mean who cares about sleep (Neptune) when there is music television ?!  Fast forward to the internet and communication around the globe instantly, the people’s media – the worldwide university of thoughts and ideas accessible from the comforts of home.  Think about it – how cool is that !?        Now, I ask you, may we please may we observe a moment of silence for the ipod.         Dear goddess, the heavens parted and the angels sang – my entire music library grew from allowance money vinyl that filled several boxes to compact discs then onto a heavenly object that fits in the palm of my hand.  Yes it is compressed and not nearly as lush as vinyl, but still. in. the. palm. of. my. hand. WoW !  Then when MTV turned into whatever t.f. it is now NO MUSIC TV, sheesh, whatever – there was born in the eyes of some of my homeboys- Youtube.  Music video library, university courses, lectures, ufo sightings, the whistling language of Silbo Gomero, spitting goats, you name it- it’s up there.  I love it that I saw Radiohead, spent hours waiting to get out of the lot, drove home in the wee hours- and by the time I woke up the next afternoon – the show was already posted multiple times – in its entirety !  sswa -eeet 2x over mmm, yes ! Blessed be ye tapers, oh mani padme hum.  I recently had a shift in viewpoint when I bought an iphone — internet instantly in my pocket- snap !  Again, I am just WoWed by all these new forms of communicating and being Neptune girl, telepathy is next we all know it, it’s coming !

So you are gathering communication is a biggie for me, yes..?

Camp Mercury
The ascendant at the time of the eclipse is diligent, work and service – oriented Virgo, making Mercury chart ruler.  Mercury is closest to the eclipse point at the time of eclipse and rules the Ascendant (identity) and Midheaven (peak experience, and how we use communication).  What and how we communicate is paramount to who we are in this chart personally and globally.
Mercury is conjunct (power operating) Venus (love, kindness) and sextile (opportunity) Saturn (justice, tact, discipline).
Mercury is also Quintile (gifts of spirit) Chiron – the healer, philosopher and teacher.

Mercury retrograde at the time of eclipse, hand in hand with Venus is giving communication a vibe of Peaceful Resistance.  Mercury squares (inner tension) the Ascendant or the vibe that is put in the world from the visionary sign of Sagittarius.  What is ethical speech, what are the consequences of what we say to one another ?

Camp Chiron
Virgo Ascendant with Chiron as ruler placed in the sign of spiritual intelligence, idealism and divine harmony is squaring (inner tension) the eclipse point.  We as a people feel (Chiron conjunct Neptune opposite Mars in Virgo the fighter for the little guys) we are not being heard – worldwide – but with the Quintile to Mercury, rest assured, We Are.  We hear one another loud and clear.

Listen to the end and hear the call of the Sagittarius eclipse approaching…this page got 21 new comments in nearly as many seconds, and if you google UC Davis you will get more police brutality against peaceful protesters.
I find this very disturbing.
Mars (force) is in a T-square (imbalance) with the eclipse, and Uranus is square Pluto – that’s a wildcard…ponder that and you be the judge.

In addition to the above, congress wants to enact censorship on the only people’s media (front lines reporting from the people on the street via camera phones etc. ) available to us in the face of bought and paid for cable networks and their biased (non) reporting of events.  See below.

I would like you to keep in mind this partial solar eclipse is a new moon and is the time for planting seeds that will be harvested when the moon is full on December 10th, 2011, which is also a full lunar eclipse.  (more on that later)

Solar is ego, ambition /  lunar is instinct and emotions.
November eclipse will activate the solar / December, the lunar.

Be mindful of your thoughts, focus on the positive.
Be love.

On December 10th, we not only have a full lunar eclipse at 18 degrees of Sagittarius, but also Uranus direct.
That will shake things up a bit, I am thinking.

If your actions grow from a loving heart, then loving fruits your actions will produce and  multiply.

Now I delve into the astrology !   Micro & Macro YaY !  (rubs hands together)
Pictured below is the astrology of the eclipse, though keep in mind the energy of an eclipse will be felt before and after the actual eclipse.

Eclipses are signposts indicating new directions in life, both personally and globally.

Events prior to the eclipse can signal what issues will be brought to the table in the coming months, both personally and globally.   The energies surrounding the eclipse are in flux ~ ride the wave ~ we are approaching the dark of the moon on the 25th.

Dark Moons are times of introspection and quiet, a time of planting your seeds for fresh new beginnings that will expand with the waxing of the moon.  Conversely, a solar eclipse is a very outward, ego powered opportunity for leadership and co-operation.

This eclipse is in Sagittarius, making Jupiter (rules Sagittarius) the Lord of the Eclipse.  Sagittarius loves to have friends, and lots of them from all over the world.  Jupiter is the exploring philosopher, the optimistic teacher who likes to have fun.   Jupiter also expands whatever it touches and it is in Venus ruled Taurus.  Taurus is patient, dedicated, hard-working and practical and they want and need security – both financially and in love (Venus).

You can see by the eclipse chart above there is a Grand Earth Trine, that’s material goods, wealth, recognition and success.  Jupiter is in slow and steady earth, building something big with a fiery creative Sagittarius Venus (money, art, earnings, kindness) with a perfectionist Mars bringing the practical power behind the climb.

Uranus, which can be one heck of a wild card is square both Venus and Pluto – so set intentions to be malleable in the face of changes.  Don’t back yourself into a corner financially.  Yes, that means personally and globally.

Did I mention Jupiter, Lord of the eclipse rules bankers ? Well, it does- and it is opposite (a call for compromise) responsible, thrifty Saturn in the sign of the scales of balance, Libra.  What does that tell you..?  exactly.

The quincunx from the solar eclipse point to Jupiter, the ruler of the eclipse ?!
Whoa ! ~ That indicates adaptation and improvisation.  In this case it indicates a regeneration and transformation of character, both personally and globally – a need for adjustment between wants, needs, and ethics.   It is a growing awareness that greed will no longer work for any of us – personally or globally.

Note that Uranus is at 0 degrees in Aries – and it is trine the eclipse degree – that’s a major jumpstart !
Uranus is the rebel; Aries, the pioneer –  first out of the gate to start something new ~>
Imagine all the fabulous new things you can do with the power of an optimistic solar eclipse behind you in the sign of expansion and enthusiasm.

There is a kite with Neptune and Chiron (the only body in water in this chart) at the spiritual helm.  Neptune is inspiration, idealism, spiritual intelligence and yes, suffering.  Neptune just went direct and is building up steam to get the heck out of Aquarius, and Chiron, the healer has already passed into Pisces, which is the sign of divine, faith-driven healing.

Chiron is blazing a trail for Neptune to follow ~ this is a good positive influence, bringing mass attention to the bigger scheme of earthkind / Gaia / Cosmos healing on a global scale.

Mars is in Virgo (Virgo is Mercury or Chiron ruled- depending on who you ask) and Mars is the focal planet of the kite.  Clever Virgo Mars delivers communications regarding the health of the general public via the internet – completely circumventing the useless corporate owned mass media.

Neptune and Chiron opposite Mars in the 12th ~> that’s the Jedi, the sacred warrior – forcing change through spiritual stealth instead of direct confrontation.  Yes, light sabers are deadly, I know.  I am referring here to thought light sabers, the higher octaves and qualities of healing in action with Mars being the blade that cuts away the unnecessary thoughts.  This is the pen (mind) is mightier than the sword aspect. 

Mercury (perception, logic, communication of kinds) is Quintile –gifts direct from spirit- Chiron the philosopher/healer.  Mercury is the Lightbearer for the Physical Sun & this is a Solar Eclipse.  Mercury holds the torch of intellect to alight the the path before ego arrives.  This aspect results in healing thoughts and perceptions.

The Eclipse point, North Node of Destiny, Mercury Rx, and Venus all in Sagittarius in a rolling conjunction (with Pluto popping out on the end in Capricorn) means all these energies are pinging off the eclipse vibe as well.  That is a lot of energy finding internal and external balance (solar / lunar) and expression regarding the philosophy of where are we going on a personal and mass global scale.

In closing, although this eclipse is only visible to portions of Antarctica, New Zealand and the Cape of South Africa, it is felt by all earthkind via the energy grid, similar to the rolling conjunction I mentioned earlier.

Also, after the eclipse occurs, every planet that moves over the eclipse degree, (by conjunction, opposition or trine) pings a bit of its energy into the eclipse vibe for months afterward.  With that in mind, choose your thoughts and manifest wisely in the days to come…

Indian Larry

May I introduce  a man of quality – bike builder, stuntman, and an innovator in the world of custom motorcycles, ‘Indian Larry’ Desmedt.

When he was a teenager when he bought his first motorbike, a 1939 Harley Knucklehead, for $200. He took it apart and spent the next nine months learning how to put it back together again. He later moved to California and apprenticed under hot rod builder Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, later launching his own Brooklyn-based Gasoline Alley motorcycle workshop in 1991.

Indian Larry is credited with re-popularizing the stripped down, tall handlebar, foot clutched, jockey shifted, no front brake or fender, small gas tank, open piped, kickstart only, stock rake choppers that prevailed in the 60s, before long front ends became popular.  He was old school.

Indian Larry is a life path 1.  Ones are the intial creative force, the fresh, new and innovative – raw, and powerful.

Larry is mega- Taurus with Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Venus – which is sitting right on top of Moon-, all in the house of slow and steady work and progress.  When Larry was younger he was convicted of bank robbery, drug addicted, and he changed his life around by conceptualizing and building old school choppers.

Venus rules not only art, but money as well.  Venus rules Taurus, in addition to Libra.  His Moon (feelings) is plunked right on top of Venus in Taurus Sun (ego, creative spirit) right there with it.   Now see the Neptune (spirituality, suffering)  in Libra (balance) in quincunx to Moon and Venus?  A quincunx indicates a change in attitude & altitude.  Larry gave up the self-destructive hedonism for a creative high.  That tattoo on his neck reads “In God We Trust – Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord – No Fear.”   The middle two lines were in reverse so that he could read them when looking in a mirror.

Saturn is trine Sun, Mars North Node of Destiny and sextile Uranus.  He channelled his rebellious streak (Uranus) into revolutionary builds (Mars, Saturn).
Mars (welding, the hammer, raw power) is conjunct North Node of Destiny in Aries, the sign it rules.  Mars is also a 1.  Headlong raw power conjunct North Node.

Sun, Venus, Mars all in square to Jupiter in the sign of innovation, Aquarius.

Those are spirit, art, and power planets in creative tension with the greater benefic, the planet of faith and expansive, exploratory ideas- Jupiter.
Obviously riding the open road on a custom built chopper of his design gave him a natural high.

Sun, Moon, Venus all in square to Pluto in Leo.  Creativity supercharged and by following his inspiration, he changed his life, and the lives of many others for the better.

Savitri is a Sanskrit word meaning stimulator or rouser and is often associated with inspiration; it also has been used to refer to as the light of the Sun, the literal and spiritual Sun.

This light has the power to inspire us on many levels of our being.  Savitri, in fact, is not different from who we truly are…rather it is a symbol of the great power that exists within all beings, providing inspiration to strive higher to find the Truth- in our lives and of our existence.

MUMBAI, India (AP) — More than 200 Indian girls whose names mean “unwanted” in Hindi chose new names Saturday for a fresh start in life.  The 285 girls — wearing their best outfits with barrettes, braids and bows in their hair — lined up to receive certificates with their new names along with small flower bouquets from Satara district officials in Maharashtra state.

In shedding names like “Nakusa” or “Nakushi,” which mean “unwanted” in Hindi, some girls chose to name themselves after Bollywood stars like “Aishwarya” or Hindu goddesses like “Savitiri.”
Some just wanted traditional names with happier meanings, such as “Vaishali” or “prosperous, beautiful and good.”

Eleggua is the gatekeeper standing at the crossroads of all life.  He walks between heaven and earth, day and night and is the messenger of the gods to the peoples of Nigeria, Benin and to Afro/Cuban practitioners of Santeria.
He watches human decisions and determines if the open path will lead to progress or to payment.

Similar to Osiris the Egyptian god of the dead, Elegua is gatekeepeer at the crossroads as humans pass from this life into the next.  Also known as a trickster, he is similar to Mercury or the Magician.

I am burning Eleggua incense as a blessing and a prayer that my path will be swift, clear and well-lit as I write.   Appropriate as transiting Pluto (gates to mysteries, metaphysics and the underworld) squares (creative tension) Saturn Rx (discipline) in the 3rd (writing, communication) in my chart at the mo.

Sun and Saturn are trine (ease) Neptune (inspiration) in Aquarius (innovative, inspired thinking).  The Mercury Venus (writing, thinking) conjunction in Scorpio is good for research and metaphysics.  Jupiter (luck and abundance) is trine (ease) Pluto (rules Scorpio, opens the gates to the underworld, mysteries and metaphysics) from Taurus the hard-worker.

Italian Renaissance artist Michelangelo Buonarroti was a master of human anatomy.
Pictured below is a detail from Pieta, located in St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City.  Michelangelo was a life path 8, signifying strength, power, success and responsibility.


Michelangelo was a Pisces Sun, Moon and Mars , with grand water trines and a kite as well (ease in expressing the energies of planets involved).  Visionary Sagittarius was rising at the time of his birth, chart ruler expansive, wise Jupiter in Aquarius the sign of revolutionary inventors in square (creative tension) to Venus (art), and quintile Neptune, the higher octave of Venus (inspired artists).

Sun conjunct Mars with Moon conjunct Mercury from the 3rd is very passionate thinker, concerned about how they communicate the solar and lunar principle.  Michelangelo slept near his artwork – positively lived and breathed creativity while awake and sleeping.

Sun and Mars in the perceptive 3rd, in opposition to Pluto in Virgo in the 9th, not only gives an intense eye for detail, but a talent for provoking radical transformations in others through the actions in life.  Uranus conjunct Neptune in Scorpio indicates an innovative, inspired artist capable of reaching into personal depths for creative inspiration.  What great depth of feeling that resonated through Saturn in Cancer through his precise, detailed work.  Works of art that have inspired millions of people over many generations.

Scorpio types love their secrets, love the murky depths and the mysteries of life.  Scorpio is the house of sex, metaphysics and the unseen and death.  How do you get to be a master of anatomy..?  You spend hours studying the human form – from the inside out.

Considering I have now seen Michelangelo’s chart and see that Neptune (inspired art), Uranus (curiosity), Pluto (analysis regarding health and death – particularly in Virgo) are all highly elevated, I am not surprised by this.

Dirty Sweet

Mystical poet, story-teller, then later musician, Marc (Feld) Bolan burst onto the british scene in the late 60’s blazing a new trail in rock and roll with a lot a spunk and a sprinkle of glitter.
Charming, aggressive and witty, he wove a cheshire grin spell on legions of T. Rex fans.  An admirer of Syd Barrett (Pink Floyd) and a precursor to Ziggy Stardust days, he was a Tolkien lover who dreamed a magical path with a sexy guitar edge.

Libra Marc Bolan has Sagittarius rising with chart ruler Jupiter (spunky, sexy) in the mystical 12th house with Scorpio (metaphysics/sex).  Marc loved exploring magical, mystical realms and was visionary in weaving poetry, music and the theatrical into his work.  (Check out the doco with Ringo Starr, it’s wacky !)

Moon (imagination) in Aries trine Mars and Pluto (desires/sex) aggressively sexy, opposite Sun conjunct Venus and Neptune, charmingly aggressively sexy.  North Node of Destiny in 6th house Taurus (Venus rules) is creative, sensual communication at work.  Part of Fortune in Gemini indicates the same.

 

Mars in Cancer at completion degree of 29, in mutual reception with Moon in Aries, he was on a mission to reveal his feelings of passion and love of mysticism.  He really blew the doors off repressive attitudes about what sexual creativity should be.

Libra Sun in 10th career house conjunct Venus and Neptune indicates his brilliant artistry – countless musicians site T. Rex as an influence on their music.  Venus is strong here as Venus rules Libra, Libra sits on the 10th, the natural home of Saturn,  Saturn is exalted in Libra.  Any aspect between Venus (practiced art) and Neptune (inspired art) will reveal the artist.

Sun conjunct Neptune, hello mystical Leo !

(Thom Yorke also has Venus conjunct Neptune (loose- 11 degrees) in Scorpio, both musicians very different, but brilliant songwriters.  Also, my college buddy has Venus conjunct Neptune (4 degrees) and is a brilliant professional sculptural artist.)

Saturn conjunct Pluto in Leo 8th indicates a life-long love of delving deep into the psyche for creative work, conjunct ruler of the 2nd he not only did well in life, but has left a strong musical legacy for future generations.  Saturn is time and conjunct Pluto in Leo, posthumous fame.

Mercury in the 11th trine Uranus in the 7th, Marc had keen instincts in his career, knowing his funky poetry was innovative and sensual and well -suited to rock n roll.

Miraculous

I have long been interested in the martyred saints even though I am not catholic.  Pictured on the postcard below is Saint Jude, one of the 12 apostles of Christ.  He was martyred along with Saint Simon for bringing the gospel to Persia.

Saint Jude’s attribute is a club. He is also often shown in icons with a flame around his head. This represents his presence at Pentecost, when he received the Holy Spirit with the other apostles. Another common attribute is Jude holding an image of Jesus Christ, in the image of Edessa. In some instances he may be shown with a scroll or a book (the Epistle of Jude) or holding a carpenter’s rule.

Jude is invoked in desperate situations because his New Testament letter stresses that the faithful should persevere in the environment of harsh, difficult circumstances, just as their forefathers had done before them. Therefore, he is the patron saint of desperate cases and his feast day is October 28.

You ever seen a catholic calendar ? – filled  with feast days.  That’s a lot of martyred saints.  eep.  That’s kinda creepy.
I have a book of patron saints, This Saints for You, guaranteed to fascinate, promise!  Saints can help you sell your house, have a successful garage sale, or if you work with explosives, call on Saint Barbara.  No kidding. 

You ever read messages of thanks to St. Jude in your local free reader or mixed in with the want ads ?
These people are giving thanks to St. Jude because their prayers have been answered.

I found the postcard above while perusing a second hand shop with my college roomie.  I was sick at the time, had been for quite awhile, and being a Beatles fan, and  a big Julian Lennon fan, (Paul wrote the song for him.) I popped a few bucks and took it home.

Hey, what can it hurt to have a little help from your friends, right ?
Well…I started carrying it around and I got better.

Martyrs are ruled by Saturn, and saints, Neptune.  Neptune is my most highly aspected planet with squares straight to Leo (ruled by Sun, the solar life force) in the 8th.  The 8th house is death, rebirth, the phoenix rising from the ashes stronger.
Makes sense with the saints, now doesn’t it.  Rising from the ashes, even stronger after death.  Millions pray to them to intercede on their behalf.

Saint Jude is Aquarian, or rather miracles are Uranian and Neptunian, and he fits the bill.  My biggie Neptune is in Scorpio (the occult) on the 11th house (natural house of Aquarius), so a fascination with martyrs (my Neptune square the 8th and death), saints and miracles.

I am Saturn (martyrs) ruled, and have Venus (love, art) conjunct Jupiter (faith) in the 8th (death) square Neptune (miracles).  I am also a big fan of incense, (Mars rules- which in my chart is on the healing 12th), and bells (Venus rules) to clear and bless the energy in the room.

I have Mars (desires, action) in Sagittarius (faith) which is on my 12th house of mysticism.   So, very spiritual, but not conforming to any religious groups. (My Sun /spirit conjunct Uranus of the free and untamed in the 9th house of faith.)

This is what fascinates me about astrology, it explains soOo much when you learn it.  My friend and client was amazed by her current transits info.
“You can see all that?”     ~Yes.   Cool, yeah ?!
Miraculous ~ the universe ~ macro to micro.
Divine. / Divination.
Neptune rules !

(I would be remiss if I did not add that I was bemoaning the very Neptunian chart I have been blessed/cursed with just yesterday (or the day before, I can’t remember !- ha ! Neptune rules fog; Mercury memory) but today I am looking at it differently, not suffering quite so much – feeling more inspired.)
