O dot

In honor of the late July 114 degree heat index, I give you O dot.
O dot rules Leo; the heart, it is where you ‘shine’ in your chart (look for the house where it lives).  It is your WILL power.  O dot in the chart represents many things including males you know, the father (along with Saturn), actors, leaders and government.  O dot is your courage, your conscious daytime waking identity, your spirit.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The heart or Anahata chakra is represented by the color green –think Green Lantern and WILL power here, folks– it is the seat of love, compassion, generosity, ego and a positive mental attitude.  Prehnite is a stone for linking the heart with the will, of finding balance between the ego desire and the highest good of Earthkind.  (I love the smooth bumpy feel of mine and it also fits the curvature of my palm when I clasp it.)
Picture in your mind’s eye your goal attained <–> go for it wholeHEARTedly !
Tenderness and kindness are not signs of weakness and despair, but manifestations of strength and resolutions. ~Kahlil Gibran
He who controls others may be powerful, but he who has mastered himself is mightier still.  ~Lao-Tzu
Saturn Sleeps
Was it the Neptune incense that brought the dreams…?  Perhaps…or maybe was it the eclipses and endings they bring that are circling me like vultures ?  Three hours of sleep, waking three times and three times falling back asleep to the same nightmare.  Such is growth…tilling the same ground another year for a different harvest.  (Threes are Mercurial, exploratory, growing. )
Neptune (rules dreams, hiding) is my most highly aspected planet and has all my difficulties growing through it, including some lovely fixed squares to the secretive 8th.  Toss in a 29 degree Sun (endings- each house has 30 degrees) conjunct Uranus (astrology), Pluto (struggle) ; all three in opposition to Chiron (the healer) in Pisces -and you have an astrologer reluctant to reveal anything personal, regardless of the fact it would be the most helpful in lighting the spiritual path for others.  Hang tight…I’m workin’ on it…follow the breadcrumbs into the labyrinth.
While reading “Moonwalking with Einstein: The Art of Remembering Everything” by Joshua Foer, I read something that reminded me of fixed squares.  It is mentioned that “memories are nomadic until revisited and reinforced thereby making them impervious to erasure. It’s thought that sleep plays a critical role in this process of consolidating our memories and drawing meaning out of them.  Rats that have spent an hour running around a track apparently run through the same track in their sleep, and exhibit the same patterns of neural firings with their eyes closed as when they were learning the mazes in the first place.  It has been suggested that the reason our own dreams so often feel like a surreal recombination of elements plucked from real-life is that they are just the by-product of experiences slowly hardening into long-term memories.”
Fixed squares in a chart are the maps leading to the deeply ingrained patterns made over many lifetimes; places where self-will is strong.  (Fixed signs are: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.)  Fixed squares indicate a need to bend the will; give as well as take; a need to find balance between the two.
Look in the chart for help from any trines, sextiles or otherwise easier aspects for a more favorable expression of the squared planet.   (In my case, Neptune sextiles my stellium and Mercury sextiles my 8th.  So I’m usually happy to talk about spirituality, metaphysics, music and art)  In the case of a chart without sextiles, trines or easier aspects to the squared planets – concentrate on vibrating to the highest most positive expression of the planets involved.
For example; Saturn can be restrictive and pessimistic or concentrating and disciplined, and Venus can be vain or loving.
Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.  ~Maori Proverb
Call of Spirit
This week I grabbed the memoir of Ashley Judd from the library shelf, “All That Is Bitter & Sweet”.  Only having read as far as the forward and prologue, I knew I had to look up her natal chart.  Her compassion for others and her desire to end suffering washing over me with every word I read.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is an excerpt from the prologue: [She writes of a Forcibly Displaced Persons Camp in the Democratic Republic of the Congo September, 2010.]  “Once again, I am staggered and humbled by the human capacity for suffering, resilience, and compassion that I experience in this hellhole, and all the other hellholes I have visited in the past seven years.  I thank Muntuzu Angel for our time together.  She whispers, while I am still holding her child, that I am a woman just like her, that I am no different.  We both cry, something transcendent passing between us.  I tell her that I will never forget her, and I will tell her story.”  Population Services International: http://www.psi.org/

Ok girl, wow ! ~Sun, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, North Node and Chiron all in Aries !
She’s a bit of a little firecracker, no wonder she was a cheerleader for the Wildcats, still shows up for games and sits with the students- lotsa school spirit & pride !  What I really love to see is her obvious thirst for knowledge with her Sun (spirit), Mercury (mind), and Mars (action), in the 9th of higher learning.  Sun, Mercury and Saturn are all trine Jupiter (expansion) from Leo (ruler of the heart) to the 9th of university studies (‘Leo’ school ‘pride’).  Venus (love) is conjunct Saturn (concentration) in the 8th house of transformation via deep research.
So there is an obvious love of study and expanding the horizons as well as travel (9th is the natural house of Sagittarius-loves new frontiers).
What gives her soul (Moon) happiness is not the Hollyweird ego (square Sun) but instead, helping others (Aquarius is the humanitarian; Moon the public).  Ashley has Aquarius Moon trine Uranus (reformers) and Pluto (universal welfare) in the sign of Virgo (those who serve others) in the 2nd house of self-worth.  These reformers (Uranus and Pluto) are also trine Mars (where she places her energy) at the midheaven which is her peak of achievements.  With Chiron in the 8th house, she heals her personal wound by bringing help to the unseen victims of abuse worldwide.  The need to mother the world is also seen by Cancer on the 11th house of social consciousness.
Ashley is a life path 11, a master number indicating a person who is dedicated to a life of service to others, which is also seen by her most aspected planets, Jupiter (generosity) and Neptune (healing, compassion).

Sniffing the Corpse

Thanks to my friend Jon who is a plant /cacti freak for introducing me to the Amorphophallus titanium plant.  It’s greek for amorpho = misshaped, phallus = phallus, titanium = giant… and um, what’s greek for purple…!?

What follows is an exerpt from the handout given at the conservatory:

It grows in the shady rainforests of Sumatra, Indonesia.  It is a member of the aroid family, Araceae.  Other members of the family include the calla lilly.  It is an underground corm that can reach up to 200 pounds.
For the first years of it’s life it produces a single leaf.
Then after growing for seven to ten years, pouring carbohydrates back into the corm, the bunga bungkai, or corpse flower is produced.

The male and female flowers (see knobby brown bits in my pix) are found at the base of the spadix, safely surrounded by the spathe (that’s the purple lettuce-like bit).   The plant produces two heavy sulpher based compounds that are not easily airborne.  The plant heats up to about 100 degrees, ( how cool is that ?! ) to volatilize these compounds making them airborne to attract pollinators from a longer distance.  The spathe turns purple resembling rotting flesh.
~~~~~~~~~~
[Too bad this blog isn’t smell-o-vision or scratch ‘n’ sniff  !!  You just gonna have to trust me, the spathe unfolded today and I could smell it from around 4 feet.  I got a good snort of the inside too- HA and yep ! – smells like rotting flesh !  *Odor-rific *  How cool is Mama Nature to have made this freaky flower !? It’s amazing !!]
~~~~~~~~~~
So much energy is produced on flower then seed production that the flower only remains open for about 48 hours.  After the two day period, the flower will slowly collapse.  If the plant is not pollinated it will go dormant and grow another leaf in another 4 to six months.  If it is pollinated ( it is believed to be pollinated in the wild by carrion beetles and flesh flies), the pencuncle will remain upright and it will take nine months for the seed to mature.
Check out this quickie 3 card tarot spread I pulled a few minutes before I saw this freaky flower – is hilarious and spot onClick here !

Triple Capricorn

James Earl Jones, the multi- talented actor/speaker with the amazing voice is a triple Cap (Sun, Moon ASC all in Capricorn)  Saturn, his chart ruler [which… hee hee Star Wars fans… is the father  in the natal chart] is in the first house sandwiched between the Luminaries. (Sun and Moon)
Ahem–> all of the above conjunct Mercury (speech) trine Neptune (films).  Hello ! !
One of the most famous lines in the history of cinema !

The amazing thing is Mr. Jones overcame a debilitating childhood stutter to become a speaker renowned for his deep resounding voice and precise diction. For ten years he rarely spoke because of his stutter.  Reciting poems; then later an interest in theater and film became the creative vehicles to improving his speech.  Amazing !

Uranus is not only an unpredictable focal point of a massive T-square; it is also the higher octave of Mercury and part of a courageous Fire Trine which includes Mars (action) and Venus (art, vocalists).  North Node (purpose in life) is to get some Aries ram energy behind that 3rd house of speech communication.  Very cool !  Mr. Jones is a life path number 5, here to experience changes and challenges.
He has certainly risen to the occasion ~

The fulcrum

There is in each of us an ancient force that takes and an ancient force that gives. A man finds little difficulty facing that place within himself where the taking force dwells, but it’s almost impossible for him to see into the giving force without changing into something other than man. For a woman, the situation is reversed … The greatest peril to the Giver is the force that takes. The greatest peril to the Taker is the force that gives. It’s as easy to be overwhelmed by giving as by taking … I’m at the fulcrum … I cannot give without taking and I cannot take without giving…

Great line spoken by Paul Atreides, the Kwisatz Haderach from my favorite novel, Dune.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tonight Saturn is my fulcrum….and so is Neptune.
I am a Capricorn rising.  My chart ruler, Saturn rules my first house (where Mars is natural ruler).   Saturn is placed in Aries (which Mars rules) and is trine Mars in my 11th (natural house of Aquarius) and on the cusp of my 12th house sign, Sagittarius.
Neptune is also very strong in my chart, as are Uranus and Pluto.
I love science-fiction (Uranus rules science; Neptune, fiction) and anything dealing with time travel (Saturn rules time).
My Mars has excellent archer aim and tonight I was using it for long-distance healing.
Healers are ruled by Neptune, Uranus, Pluto, Virgos and the sixth house.
Tonight, I have my magnetite close and know the moon is growing very close to full, so a good time to put forth strong healing intentions.
Blessed be to all my lovely readers~
Foundation of Strength
I’ve been outside mowing, planting and digging in the dirt.  Getting my Toro moon on – good for the soul !
Tonight’s post is actually a card reading for you!
A tarot reading for everyone who will read this post, activated – when they read it.  With the intent that it will result in the highest good of all who choose to read it.
Shall we begin..?
I am using the Robin Wood tarot, my personal fave; you may purchase it here:
http://www.robinwood.com/Catalog/Books/BookPages/RWTDeck.html
The two bottom cards are the ‘foundation’ -of the- ‘strength’ card at the top.  The card at the bottom of the pile (on the far left) is the ‘teacher card’ (what’s really going on, ‘the bottom of things’).
*Focus on the positive; for the only constant in the world is change; align energies to the highest good of all.*
Teacher card: Let go of that which binds or restricts; let go of doubts and fear of change.
This reading could also be summed up by the Mahatma Gandhi quote: Be the change you want to see in the world.
Have a great day all~ Cheers!
