Full harvest moon in Pisces Sunday night, with the peak coming today at 5:27 a.m. EDT (0927 GMT).

Moon (emotions) reaching full in the sign opposite over-critical, detailed Virgo is drawing instincts (moon) outward to embrace the flowing, vast collective, the all one, the universal.

Pisces moon brings visions of the world as we wish to see it.  Create your dream into reality through your mind’s eye.
Mercury, Jupiter and Pluto are forming a grand Earth trine, and now is the time to envision (Mercury) the most beneficial (Jupiter) outcome or transformation of your desires (Pluto).

Full moon in Pisces is a silent sirens call to spirit and manifestation of higher love and unity in all spheres.  Transformation is rumbling as Pluto is days away from going direct on September 16th at 4 degrees Capricorn, use this energy wisely and be mindful of your thoughts.

Transiting Sun, Venus and full moon are activating my natal Uranus and Pluto, and transiting Pluto is very near my 3 degree Capricorn ascendant.
This harvest moon lunation has brought me a surprising harvest of Pluto, Venus, and a head full of 3rd and 9th house ideas right along with it.  (Third and ninth houses are lower and higher mind, respectively.)
My thoughts are revolving around self-identity (1st house Pluto transit) and my relationships with others (7th house opposite transiting Pluto) and what I can do to improve both.

Virgos and the 6th house represent health, service to others, self-improvement, healing and gathering for the harvest.

Persephone was so lovely Hades could not resist her, he cracked open the Earth and took her to reign as goddess of the underworld with him.  Her mother, Demeter, goddess of the Earth and harvest crossed the land searching for her daughter.
Broken-hearted and grieving, Demeter let the harvests cease, and plants of the Earth began to wither and die.

Furious, Zeus (Jupiter) sent Hermes (Mercury) with a message forcing Hades (Pluto) to release Persephone to her mother, but Persephone, eating of a pomegranate from Hades, was bound to him and the underworld by fate for one- third of the year.  (These 3 planets are presently forming the grand Earth -manifestation- trine)  While Persephone spent time in the underworld, Demeter refused to let the fruits of the Earth grow, and winter began.

Lights on, not home

Do you have empty houses in your natal chart ?  Don’t panic, it doesn’t mean you are shut out of that house… it simply means the bulk of the lessons you are here to learn are not located in the area of life that house represents.  For instance, my 7th house (marriage, partnerships) is empty and I’ve been married.  So if your 7th house is empty too, don’t panic and envision spinsterhood just yet.

Aquarius lands on the empty 2nd house in my chart – but I have an active Uranus, which is the ruler of Aquarius.  My most highly aspected planet, Neptune is in the 11th house, natural house of Aquarius, and it sextiles Uranus.

My Uranus is oriental (rising before) the sun with exactly 5 degrees of separation ( I mention this because the number 5= change and challenge, Uranus is the planet of unexpected changes).  With Uranus rising oriental (guiding my) Sun (and conjunct Pluto) I have an innate quality of change, an ability and  to morph, mutate and transform my ego (Sun).  This whammy conjunction is also near Mid-heaven, or on display. (waves !)

Keep in mind any planet conjunct a luminary is super charged in your chart because it is mainlining your conscious (sun) or unconscious (moon) self.

My Sun, Uranus, Pluto conjunction is also trine my Moon – so again my Uranus is active even if the 2nd house of Aquarius is empty.  I knew (Aquarian motto: I know) the minute I woke up – and the thought popped into my head (intuition, higher octave of Mercurial thinking) lights on (Uranus rules electricity) no one home (empty Aquarius).

Find the ruler of the empty house in your chart to identify how the house and its energies are activated in your life.

Well…no wonder I love fortune cookies !
Cookies are Venus and Jupiter ruled – both of which I have in the 8th house.

The 8th house is the natural house of Scorpios – secret compartment freaks~

I have fun-loving Leo there, and we LOVE toys and games.

Surprises are Uranus which I have conjunct Sun (gifts) and my Uranus is conjunct destructive Pluto.

I made them once for my ex-boyfriend and sadly, they turned out like greasy little pancakes.
(He scored points by eating them anyway )
I still write my own fortunes.  I accidentally got a hilarious translation a few years ago when my document margins slipped, and two fortunes got smooshed together.
It read:    You will soon see a rare bird.  Dinner !

Fortune cookie researcher, Yasuko Nakamachi, a Japanese grad student, found the cookie’s Japanese origins, in an illustration from a 19th-century book of stories, “Moshiogusa Kinsei Kidan.”  A character in one of the tales is an apprentice in a senbei store.

In Japan, the cookies are called, variously, tsujiura senbei (“fortune crackers”), omikuji senbei (“written fortune crackers”), and suzu senbei (“bell crackers”).

zig zag moon

I went all Virgo persnickety on my yard today – mowed, and yanked a ton of weeds so this dark Virgo moon I can rest easy knowing my inside and outside chores are done.  A happy Virgo is a Virgo with work completed (Virgo is the sign of work and service).
The cool thing is what stopped me dead in my tracks ! 
I brake ( break ! ) for critters.
I just had to get a pic of this most beautiful, groovy (Saturn-ruled) spider and her web.

How appropriate my new spider friend is a Nephila, or ‘fond of spinning’, as I have been having a weird spun-out, emotional weekend.   Transiting Jupiter is nearly conjunct my natal 4th house Moon/Neptune opposition my emotional geiger counter is c-c-clicking !
I need a distraction, so here are some pics (Neptune) from my home (4th house) !

Golden silk orb-weavers  are sometimes referred to as writing spiders due to occasional zigzag patterns called stabilimenta  (web decorations) built into their webs.  There are many theories as to why the spiders spin such patterns, such as they make shiny UV attractors, excess silk, but the coolest theory is because they like the patterns, it is their spider art.  How cool is that ?!

I’m going with aesthetics, because I once saw a large web with a teeny-weenie miniature web (just like the big one) in the far upper right corner of the web.  I often wondered if it was a practice web, wall art or maybe a guest bed…who knows..?!  I keep an eye out just in case I see another someday.

If my theory is true, it would mean spiders are not only Saturn-ruled, but also Venus (art) ruled.  This particular spider often kills her mate, so better toss in some Mars and Pluto as well.

I looked up spider totem, and it is spot-on because I wasn’t even going to post this evening….and just as I waited for the page to load, I glanced at the clock- 11:11 !   (manifestation time)
So groOovy…let’s all see the web of life during the dark Virgo Moon !

Spider helps understanding of illusions and reality, spiritual and physical balance, awakens sensibilities and weaves influences in development in your own world, stay focused on the center of things.  Spider is gentleness and strength and will remind you of this pattern. She also will aid in communications and the written word.

Gaia breathes

Odd that after my ‘breathing‘ post the other day, I was wondering why I didn’t think of including info about how the Earth breathes….then the US gets earthquakes.  She has been breathing for millions of years; very slowly, and at a lower vibration than humans, but breathing nonetheless.

See Pangea at left for a visual of how the continents looked millions of years ago, before plate tectonics moved the earth by the addition of new ground rising up, and older pushing below.

From Aug 22-24, several earthquakes hit regions where they do not normally occur.  Several small pre-cursor quakes out in Cali– nothing new there, they take their juice shaken most days anyway–then a 5.3 near the Colorado/New Mexico border, a few small ones near the New Madrid fault, then soon after a 5.8 in Virginia.

I have been reading Dogs That Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home by Rupert Sheldrake. In his book, he mentions earthquake prediction via animal behavior, also known as Etho-Geological Forecasting.

Chart for the time of quake indicates chart ruler, Pluto (earth shifts) in Capricorn (material world), in square to Uranus (vibrations,quakes) in the 4th house of home and property, in square to Mars (energy) which is in opposition to Pluto.  Mars (activity) square Saturn (bedrock, Earth), which is also square Pluto.  Be aware these aspects are in cardinal signs (crisis, activity, action).

There is also a grand Earth trine involving Jupiter (expansion), Venus (sensations) and Sun (government buildings) with metamorphic Pluto.

Sniffing the Corpse

Thanks to my friend Jon who is a plant /cacti freak for introducing me to the Amorphophallus titanium plant.  It’s greek for amorpho = misshaped, phallus = phallus, titanium = giant… and um, what’s greek for purple…!?

What follows is an exerpt from the handout given at the conservatory:

It grows in the shady rainforests of Sumatra, Indonesia.  It is a member of the aroid family, Araceae.  Other members of the family include the calla lilly.  It is an underground corm that can reach up to 200 pounds.
For the first years of it’s life it produces a single leaf.
Then after growing for seven to ten years, pouring carbohydrates back into the corm, the bunga bungkai, or corpse flower is produced.

The male and female flowers (see knobby brown bits in my pix) are found at the base of the spadix, safely surrounded by the spathe (that’s the purple lettuce-like bit).   The plant produces two heavy sulpher based compounds that are not easily airborne.  The plant heats up to about 100 degrees, ( how cool is that ?! ) to volatilize these compounds making them airborne to attract pollinators from a longer distance.  The spathe turns purple resembling rotting flesh.

[Too bad this blog isn’t smell-o-vision or scratch ‘n’ sniff  !!  You just gonna have to trust me, the spathe unfolded today and I could smell it from around 4 feet.  I got a good snort of the inside too- HA and yep ! – smells like rotting flesh !  *Odor-rific *  How cool is Mama Nature to have made this freaky flower !? It’s amazing !!]

So much energy is produced on flower then seed production that the flower only remains open for about 48 hours.  After the two day period, the flower will slowly collapse.  If the plant is not pollinated it will go dormant and grow another leaf in another 4 to six months.  If it is pollinated ( it is believed to be pollinated in the wild by carrion beetles and flesh flies), the pencuncle will remain upright and it will take nine months for the seed to mature.
