Lunar Lore

The Moon moves fast, spends about 2 days in each sign, it navigates the entire zodiac in 27.33 days.

According to Ye Olde Farmer’s Almanac tradition, here is how to set the best times for surgery dates.

First look to the Man of the Signs drawing above to see which sign rules which part of the human body.
Then look to the see what sign the Moon falls in.
Choose a time when the moon is in the sign furthest away from the area you will be having surgery on.

For instance if having surgery on the head or face, schedule the appointment when the moon is in Pisces for best results.

Also watch for full moons and avoid surgery at these times as the moon rules the ocean tides and water, and human blood is 80 % water.  The blood flows more freely and is slower to clot during full moons.  Some also give 3 days on either side of the full moon as a time to avoid surgery because of the increase of blood flow.

During the Last Quarter and New Moon times, blood flow is more sluggish and is better for healing and resting.
Keep in mind, I am not a medical doctor, this is Farmer’s Almanac lore and wisdom, not medical advice.

Ever wonder why during dark moons you only feel like being quiet and lounging with a book ?
Now you know ~ your blood flow is slightly reduced, meaning less oxygen throughout the blood stream, it is a time for respite.

Hair ?
For increase of growth, cut between the New and Full Moon.
For thicker hair, cut on the Full Moon.  (My boss swears by this !)
To decrease growth, Full to New Moon (plucking, shaving, dyeing)

How cool is this ?
The photo is from here, a terrific photo-filled post about the sculptural artist Jason deCaires Taylor . (click for artist website)

My biggie Neptune (sea) square Venus (art) in Leo (creativity) really digs this !
My Neptune is also opposite Moon, (Neptune= ocean, Moon= tides) so oceanic art is right up my alley ~> Sculptural art placed in the sea and left to age ?!  Very cool !
(Saturn rules age and time, and is my chart ruler)
I was a sculpture major in college, so this really speaks to me.
Working and weaving art in tune with Mother Nature.
(Saturn rules work and spiders/weaving webs/ knots.)
Naturalists are Saturn and Neptune ruled.  Neptune rules inspired art.
Does Jason’s art inspire you..?

Look to the Neptune in your natal chart to see how you are inspired, and how you inspire others

Look for conjuntions to indicate where matters are dreamy, foggy, underwater, basically you are operating on pure inspiration and spiritual guidance.
 (This is also also where you need to be cautious of illusions, and delusions.)
Look for any squares to Neptune to see how you will reach deep within for inspiration.
Look to any oppositions to Neptune to see where others will directly inspire you.

Lights on, not home

Do you have empty houses in your natal chart ?  Don’t panic, it doesn’t mean you are shut out of that house… it simply means the bulk of the lessons you are here to learn are not located in the area of life that house represents.  For instance, my 7th house (marriage, partnerships) is empty and I’ve been married.  So if your 7th house is empty too, don’t panic and envision spinsterhood just yet.

Aquarius lands on the empty 2nd house in my chart – but I have an active Uranus, which is the ruler of Aquarius.  My most highly aspected planet, Neptune is in the 11th house, natural house of Aquarius, and it sextiles Uranus.

My Uranus is oriental (rising before) the sun with exactly 5 degrees of separation ( I mention this because the number 5= change and challenge, Uranus is the planet of unexpected changes).  With Uranus rising oriental (guiding my) Sun (and conjunct Pluto) I have an innate quality of change, an ability and  to morph, mutate and transform my ego (Sun).  This whammy conjunction is also near Mid-heaven, or on display. (waves !)

Keep in mind any planet conjunct a luminary is super charged in your chart because it is mainlining your conscious (sun) or unconscious (moon) self.

My Sun, Uranus, Pluto conjunction is also trine my Moon – so again my Uranus is active even if the 2nd house of Aquarius is empty.  I knew (Aquarian motto: I know) the minute I woke up – and the thought popped into my head (intuition, higher octave of Mercurial thinking) lights on (Uranus rules electricity) no one home (empty Aquarius).

Find the ruler of the empty house in your chart to identify how the house and its energies are activated in your life.

Check, please

Cardinal Cross time again and how about a reality check.  I need one, it’s been a busy day and more yet to come.  For those of you not familiar with astrology, look for the big red square (each point is in a Cardinal sign) with an ‘X’ in the center.  The ‘X’ lines are oppositions, the shorter red lines are squares.  Squares are inner conflicts, oppositions something someone else does.
Uranus in Aries opposite Saturn in Libra is like trying to hold on to a bucking relationship bronco between self/others.  Mars in Cancer opposite Pluto in Capricorn is walking the tightrope between changing career and herding the family home.

Good news (in blue) is there is also a mystic rectangle, which is two trines (easy energies) and two sextiles ( two opportunities) and a grand trine (big blue triangle) and a kite with two more sextiles.  So there is a lot of good energy bopping around too…!
The opposition in the kite is pointing to Mars and Pluto.  That’s action, desires and where we put our energy (Mars) opposite the big transformer, Pluto.  Feels kinda like a big soul shakedown party.  The whole planet, our country and each and every one of us are going through some rapid changes.

So I made a tarot spread so I could have some more info on the energies.
I did this spread using:
the left card as ASC /top as MC/ right as DC/ bottom as IC/ middle card as The Hub.
The card on the bottom right is the bottom of the deck or the ‘message from spirit’ as Donni calls it.

~~~~~~~~~~
ASC= Koala, upright~~~Live in a place of gratitude and generosity, you may have your secrets as long a you have respect for and do no harm to others.
MC=Waratah, upright~~It is only by the dark night of the soul and grief through loss that we may fully understand the unbridled joy of love and happiness.  Being alive is to accept them both.
DC=Southern Cross, upright~~This is a testing period, a period of changes and endings.  What is needed is courage and fortitude – be mentally and physically strong, keep to your discipline and beliefs.  Do not lose hope, for the beautiful new world to come will far exceed your expectations and imaginings.
IC=Willy Wagtail, upright~~This is the time to communicate your spiritual and emotional truth – openly and honestly.  Face changes and the ending of the old by turning your face to the new.  Find your inner strength to deal with difficulties, and seek the friendship of others when you need it.
Hub (Earth)= Black Swan, reversed~~Turn your sight within to find what is holding you back from your highest good.  Adjust your attitude/altitude to find the opportunities present in your situation.
Spirit=Opal, reversed~~This is a very spiritual card that indicates a time of shedding past habits and negativity.   Find the rainbow of energies available within (chakras) to see the value of your presence in the world and the gifts you have to offer with newfound clarity.
All the best~
Planetary Pool
I am mega earth with Capricorn rising, Sun Virgo and Toro Moon.  So here’s a Toro tour of some of my earth stuff while I talk astro. (Translation: Toros like stuff, are earthy, and my Toro moon is on the 4th house of home.)
Earthy people= practical, skillful, grounded, sensate
Fire people= energetic, courageous, inspiring, adventurous
Air people= intellectual, social, thoughtful wordy ones
Water people= emotional, romantic, intuitives, secretive
Sounds simple doesn’t it…?…but what is so great about natal charts is they are as richly textured and layered as the most finely crafted spiderweb.  For instance, my ruling planet, Saturn (earth) is in fire (Aries) on air (3rd house of Gemini (air).  Fire likes fire and air.  Fire does not like earth and water.
Translation: Saturn (limits) wants to stay, Aries (risks) wants to go, and Gemini (air) is here talking about it.  It has taken 40 + years to talk about it because my Saturn is Rx (retrograde) which means it works inwardly until ready to manifest outwardly.
~~~
Cardinal= activity, where the action is, self-starters & go-getters
Fixed= stable, building from ideas of cardinals, desires and emotions
Mutable= adaptable, changing, people people, the glue between the two

Going deeper still, my chart ruler, Saturn, rules a cardinal sign (Capricorn), is in a cardinal sign (Aries) on a mutable house (Gemini).  Translation: The tenants (planets placed in the sign visiting natural house) like to get their way, but the landlord (the natural house) is more easy-going.
Who wins..?
Ask me any given day and you’ll get a different answer because transits (what the planets are doing overhead now) will be knocking vibrations off my natal chart positions like Minnesota Fats shooting 10 balls into the side pockets.  Some days the energies drop hard, other days just a gentle little tap.
The same is true of your chart.
