Blue Mooneptune

“I was determined to carve out a music of my own.  I didn’t want to copy anybody.”

~May I introduce the ‘Father of Bluegrass’,  Mr. Bill Monroe.

Changing the face of American music forever, Bill Monroe founded the Monroe Brothers, later the Bluegrass Boys; culling the best pickers around to play in his band – including Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs and much later, Peter Rowan.

For five decades they created the ‘high lonesome’ sound.

I was very pleased to see his chart-> it’s another astrological slam-dunk, folks !

Virgo Bill Monroe is a life path 7.

Sevens are mystics, intellectuals- they are the builders of bridges between worlds.

Obviously a grand earth trine (ease of energies) anchored by rebel Uranus in hard-working Capricorn.  You don’t get to be the best without a LOT of practice and perseverance in your craft.

Neptune (rules string instruments) at the apex of the kite, exalted in Cancer.

A kite formation indicates strong energies passing with ease along the trine, and more difficult energies in the opposition.

Uranus in Bill’s case is the inventive quality of his music expressed through the opposition with musical Neptune.  Powerful Mars in the dexterous sign of Gemini in square (inner conflict) to Virgo stellium, which includes Sun (Ego, spirit, creativity), Mercury (communication) and Venus (art, music) indicates Bill’s exacting work- Virgos are precise; seeking perfection.

He was also very demanding of those he played with.

Moon (feelings) conjunct Saturn (work, concentration) in methodical Taurus (ruled by Venus, his art) meant his music was his life, plain and simple.

Moon, exalted in Taurus, rules the throat.
Hello High Lonesome !

Uranus (rules vision) opposite Neptune (rules suffering as well as transcendence) indicates his life-long vision problems.

Saturn (time, building, father) conjunct Moon (public) shows the legacy of bluegrass music Bill has created, as well as the moniker, ‘Father of Bluegrass.’

“You know, I never wrote a tune in my life. All that music’s in the air around you all the time. I was just the first one to reach up and pull it out.” – Bill Monroe

Call of Spirit

This week I grabbed the memoir of Ashley Judd from the library shelf, “All That Is Bitter & Sweet”.  Only having read as far as the forward and prologue, I knew I had to look up her natal chart.  Her compassion for others and her desire to end suffering washing over me with every word I read.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is an excerpt from the prologue: [She writes of a Forcibly Displaced Persons Camp in the Democratic Republic of the Congo September, 2010.]  “Once again, I am staggered and humbled by the human capacity for suffering, resilience, and compassion that I experience in this hellhole, and all the other hellholes I have visited in the past seven years.  I thank Muntuzu Angel for our time together.  She whispers, while I am still holding her child, that I am a woman just like her, that I am no different.  We both cry, something transcendent passing between us.  I tell her that I will never forget her, and I will tell her story.”  Population Services International: http://www.psi.org/
Ok girl, wow ! ~Sun, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, North Node and Chiron all in Aries !
She’s a bit of a little firecracker, no wonder she was a cheerleader for the Wildcats, still shows up for games and sits with the students- lotsa school spirit & pride !  What I really love to see is her obvious thirst for knowledge with her Sun (spirit), Mercury (mind), and Mars (action), in the 9th of higher learning.  Sun, Mercury and Saturn are all trine Jupiter (expansion) from Leo (ruler of the heart) to the 9th of university studies (‘Leo’ school ‘pride’).  Venus (love) is conjunct Saturn (concentration) in the 8th house of transformation via deep research.
So there is an obvious love of study and expanding the horizons as well as travel (9th is the natural house of Sagittarius-loves new frontiers).
What gives her soul (Moon) happiness is not the Hollyweird ego (square Sun) but instead, helping others (Aquarius is the humanitarian; Moon the public).  Ashley has Aquarius Moon trine Uranus (reformers) and Pluto (universal welfare) in the sign of Virgo (those who serve others) in the 2nd house of self-worth.  These reformers (Uranus and Pluto) are also trine Mars (where she places her energy) at the midheaven which is her peak of achievements.  With Chiron in the 8th house, she heals her personal wound by bringing help to the unseen victims of abuse worldwide.  The need to mother the world is also seen by Cancer on the 11th house of social consciousness.
Ashley is a life path 11, a master number indicating a person who is dedicated to a life of service to others, which is also seen by her most aspected planets, Jupiter (generosity) and Neptune (healing, compassion).
Foundation of Strength
I’ve been outside mowing, planting and digging in the dirt.  Getting my Toro moon on – good for the soul !
Tonight’s post is actually a card reading for you!
A tarot reading for everyone who will read this post, activated – when they read it.  With the intent that it will result in the highest good of all who choose to read it.
Shall we begin..?
I am using the Robin Wood tarot, my personal fave; you may purchase it here:
http://www.robinwood.com/Catalog/Books/BookPages/RWTDeck.html
The two bottom cards are the ‘foundation’ -of the- ‘strength’ card at the top.  The card at the bottom of the pile (on the far left) is the ‘teacher card’ (what’s really going on, ‘the bottom of things’).
*Focus on the positive; for the only constant in the world is change; align energies to the highest good of all.*
Teacher card: Let go of that which binds or restricts; let go of doubts and fear of change.
This reading could also be summed up by the Mahatma Gandhi quote: Be the change you want to see in the world.
Have a great day all~ Cheers!
Voodoo Woman
Susan Tedeschi has loved music from a very young age. She joined a band at 13, wrote her first song at 14, sang gospel choir, and later graduated from the Berklee College of Music with a degree in jazz and rock.   According to her Lillith Fair bio: she found little inspiration in the church choir, and so attended predominantly African-American Baptist churches, feeling the music was “less repressed and more like a celebration of God.”
She is an outstanding vocalist and guitarist; nominated for several Grammys, and is the winner of numerous W.C. Handy Blues Awards.
Susan is an 11 life path- 11 is a master number for those who lead lives of inspiring others and service to the greater good of humanity.
Wowsers.  Look at that 8th house.  Susan is a Pisces rising with a chart ruler of Neptune (rules string instruments) packed into a powerful Scorpio stellium.  Ummm, dirty blues, yeah !
Sun is sandwiched between the two benefics Venus and Jupiter; an indication of a loving, generous spirit.  Mercury and Neptune conjunct give her a penetrating musical presence; guitar and voice.
Deep feeling Moon conjunct Chiron in trine to the stellium, emotional healing through the power of music.  I am inclined to think that North Node (purpose in life) at 29 degrees between Aquarius (electricity) and Pisces (Neptune rules) means ‘electric guitar’.
Judging by her powerful 7th house (relationships, including marriage) her husband, Derek Trucks has obviously had a huge impact (Mars, energy, desires/ Uranus, innovation, telepathy) on her artistically (Venus or art -rules Libra).  They speak the same musical language and find transcendence through intuitive musical expression.
La luna spends about 2 days in each sign of the zodiac making a circle around the wheel of life in approximately 27.33 days.
New Moon= new beginnings, instinctual re-birthing
Cresent= breakthrough, formation of future through the past
First Quarter= active pioneers, here to change things
