The planet Venus moves in front of the Sun.
This is a very rare event called the Occultation of Venus.
These transits occur (approximately) every 121 years, in pairs, 8 years apart. The next pair of transits will then begin (approximately) 121 years later, with another pair of transits.
Venus will be in what is called an inferior conjunction – Venus retrograde in between the Sun and Earth. (The superior conjunction is when Venus is on the other side of the Sun from Earth.) These pairs of conjunctions happen in either Gemini or Sagittarius. See the chart below, the occultation in June is in Gemini at 15 degrees.
The last of this pair of transits was in 2004 in Gemini, the transit this June will be the last for (approximately) 121 years. These transits historically happen during shifts in consciousness such as the renaissance, the growth of industrialism, and the scientific age – they highlight creative growth on earth – this pair of transits highlights the information age, the age of worldwide communications. It indicates a fresh start and new directions on our journey to the next pair of transits over 100 years from now…
It will be visible from North America, the Pacific, Australia and eastern Asia. Note: Wear eye protection to look right at the sun, and get a telescope !
So let’s talk about the occultation of Venus ~ we love Venus mwahs xox! The chart above is for the aspect when it is exact, but be aware it will be applying and separating before and after – ascendant will be shifting as the earth and sky moves.
First of all, these pairs of transits occur in the signs of :
Gemini & Sagittarius – what we THINK, and what we SEE.
Gemini is Mercury ruled, Sagittarius, Jupiter ruled.
So one pair of transits brings communications (Mercury), and the next one expands upon the energies (Jupiter rules expansion) ~ until 121 years later Venus begins the cycle again.
Venus retrograde conjuncts Sun (and Mercury) – right off we are dealing with communication (Mercury / Gemini) of solar (Sun) and harmonic (Venus) principles. (I am counting Mercury as conjunct through transference of light, 15 degree orb for luminary, plus is occurring in Gemini which Mercury rules – is strong here)
THINKING and SPEAKING of our WILL, and what we HAVE and how we BALANCE. Conjunctions are power operating and we have communication of creative balance front and center.
Mercury rules the right cerebral hemisphere : non-verbal communication, intuition, inclusive whole picture thinking. Venus rules love, art and money – exchanges of all three in order to create balance between opposites. Sun is willpower, our spiritual self manifest on the physical plane.

Consider this…are you left brain strong ? If so, then this aspect will mean your Mars (rules left brain) will be wanting to lead the square from Virgo. Mars rules the language, logic, critical thinking, numbers and reasoning.

That is Mercury (intuitive brain) trine the global tuning fork (Neptune is transpersonal and global) in Pisces (safe at home plate) conjunct the healer centaur, Chiron. Sun is benefic, Venus is benefic and if we tune our Neptuner properly, I believe it will be a benefic as well.

I just saw my first fireflyof the year – Sun and Moon rule – how appropriate with the upcoming Eclipse ready to burst on the scene ! In the wings backstage we have Neptune…Neptune likes to sneak and this stationing retrograde fog is coming in under the radar with all the eclipse & Venus hubub onstage stealing the spotlight. Have you been feeling the shift in Neptunian energies..? It is my most highly aspected planet, and I have most definitely felt it.
Let me explain… When Neptune went direct months ago, I got my music back (found a bunch of music I thought I had lost for good). haha Guess what ?! Neptune shifts energies, retrograde nears and I lost my music again – speaker box quit working. I don’t handle life without a soundtrack very well, so I tried to replace it. I blame it on stubborn Toro moon opposite Neptuner in natal. Yes, knowing the astro – I still tried. Twice. That’s right, the first one didn’t work, and the second one doesn’t either. Laughable, yes ?! This is the perfect illustration of why not to buy during Venus retrograde.

I would be lying if I painted over the recent aspects with sunshine and rainbows. Growth is upon all of us – Uranus and Pluto are nearing exact square and we are all feeling it. If you have them prominent in your natal, you get a one way ticket to mainline metamorph that area of your chart. I have personally checked out of GMA the last few days – wasn’t planning on it, either. Just realized I can’t give what I don’t have.
I once read a great piece by a well – respected astrologer who was speaking of the tough nuts that ‘survived the tumultuous late sixties’… I immediately thought, yes – the late sixties were intense – you were just passing through …I was born with that aspect. We have entered a cycle of 7 exact squares of Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn.
Simplified: Capricorn is ancient and slow as molasses ::: Aries is the impulsive pioneer. Simplified: Pluto is inner willpower and metamorphosis ::: Uranus is eccentric anarchy.
Old cuss Capricorn is getting tasered. Stagnant, stalled, structural organizations are in for a MAJOR overhaul. Squares are intense friction – it is uncomfortable and we are on it like hair on ape actively chipping at the problem, scratching at the itch.

I have been asked to describe how I experience Sun conjunct Uranus Pluto in Virgo 9, so here goes… Sun is spirit, ego, shining illumination. My Sun is in the natural Sagittarius house, so that (and other aspects) give me a rich Sag vibe. Expansive visionary philosophies, love of learning, travel, other cultures, teaching and exploring are all Sag traits. Sun rules my 8th, the natural house of Scorpio, and Pluto is in the 8th – which it rules. So basically my Sun is getting major transformation 24/7 – it often falls kerplunk into the deep, dark, dank Scorpio well and can’t get free. I suffer greatly in 8th house matters. (benefics square Neptune in Scorp) My light goes out.
I have contemplated and researched past lives, the death of this life, I have more than once considered taking my life, I have been so sick I thought I was dying, I have up and left my former life, and despite all this turmoil – I am unable to completely lose hope because the benefics Venus, Jupiter and Fortuna are all conjunct in my 8th. Good thing, or I would have checked out long ago.
Add Uranus and it equals ego hits, one right after another, my whole life. It means add the prefix ‘self’ to everything 9th house; hugely independent in thought and philosophy, powerful drive to see and communicate the big picture. I can be a buttery sweetheart (Ven/Jup), turn on a dime, detach and walk off. Quit habits cold turkey. I love holograms, lenticular images, 3D and all sorts of eyecandy. Don’t lie to me, I am an intuitive expert in body language.
Uranus is magnetic, so I attract ego-maniac, power – tripping oddballs, and Plutonic lesson – bringers with regularity. I tend to be impulsive, (Mars quintiles Uranus adds to this) and I elicit the ginormous game change not only my life, but also the lives of those I care about. I don’t set out to do this, it just happens naturally.
Loner. I cut to the chase, I am intense, curious and love research. I tend to intimidate people, I delve deep into mysterious fringe subjects (love Ripley’s Believe It or Not, UFO’s, occult, magnetics, energies and science for starters), and I have a knack of being in the right place at the right time. I am progressive, creatively innovative and I obsessively study a subject until I know I have reached saturation, then I drop it, move on to obsessively learn something else. Uranus quintile Mars in the 12th house sign (Sagittarius), in addition to Mars trine Saturn means I have weird experiences with long-distances and time.
