I’m honored

Johnny Cash, Arkansas born; Pisces Sun, Scorpio Moon.
Kris Kristofferson, Texas born; Cancer Sun, Leo Moon.

Johnny recorded his first hits for Sun Records in Memphis, in 1958, Johnny left Sun for Columbia Records in Nashville.  For a short while Johnny and Waylon shared an apartment in Nashville, both were young, wild and crazy, popping pills and playing honky tonks. While on tour in 1965, Johnny was arrested by a narcotics squad in El Paso, Texas. He was carrying 688 Dexedrine capsules and 475 Equanil that were hidden inside his guitar case.  Are ya gettin’ the outlaw bit here ?  In 1967, Johnny and June won a Grammy for their duet of ‘Jackson’.

In 1965, Kris (a Rhodes Scholar) moved to Nashville, declining an English professorship at West Point to write songs instead.  His military family disowned Kris for ditching the teaching gig and taking up music.   Again, are ya gettin’ the outlaw bit ?  Kris got a job as a janitor at Columbia, while also working part-time as a bartender, a commercial helicopter pilot and trying to pitch his songs to record execs.  He also gave some songs to Johnny, who ignored them.  In 67, Kris was signed to Epic, but his songs were more successful chart hits when sung by other artists.

Then Kris, dig this !  (his Toro Uranus – rules aviation – is opposite {energy in your face} Johnny’s Scorpio Moon – rules the home) landed a helicopter on Johnny’s lawn and asked him, “Now will you listen to some of my songs?’   Don’t you just love astrological bits like this ?!   He did ! – then introduced Kris at the Newport Folk Festival in 1969, and Kris’ career as a performer of his own songs began to truly take off.

Trines indicate harmony, benefits and co-operation, they are protective, they are the past life bank account you can draw from.

Johnny had Sun / Mercury / Mars in Pisces trine Kris’ Sun / Venus / Mars stellium in late Gemini, early Cancer.  Right there, they ‘get’ each other, communicate well, love and understanding.  Water Suns, both both intuitive and sensitive.
Kris’ Leo Moon was conjunct Johnny’s Jupiter — both trine Kris’ Jupiter.  Moon is feelings, Jupiter luck, optimism–all in fire, signals creativity, self-expression.

Kris’ Jupiter in trine to Johnny’s Venus / Uranus conjunction in Aries which was in turn trine their Moon / Jupiter conjunction in Leo.  They were good for each other, lending support and caring when the other needed it.  Again in fire, so between their charts Kris and Johnny formed a grand fire trine between Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.

Kris had Uranus (flight, eccentricity) trine Johnny’s Neptune (music), so when he landed, Johnny listened, haha.

Blazing new trails in country music, Waylon & Willie bucked the Nashville system, brought the rowdy back into country music, fans called it ‘outlaw’.

Waylon had Venus/Uranus conjunct Willies Sun /Venus in Taurus.

Waylon had Moon/Neptune conjunct Willies Mars/Neptune Rx/ Jupiter Rx conjunction in Virgo.

This pair of whopping conjunctions trine each other.  POW

Michael Andrew “Duff” McKagan

One of the first things I did was go to the grocery store to buy food. It was a novel idea at the time, for I hadn’t really shopped for food in about 10 years. Now here I was, 30 years old, and probably doing the first good grocery shopping in my life. I was an adult with a credit card, a checkbook, and an ATM card. I could buy whatever I wanted in the store, but I had no idea where to start. I thought that everyone was staring at me. It had been so long that I had been anywhere sober that I didn’t know how to act or how to deal.

It was like being on LSD. The lights in the store were blaringly bright to me and the music seemed to be playing hidden messages. I bought some milk and barbecue sauce and cigarettes, and that is all. My shirt was drenched in sweat and I was having a full-blown panic attack. As I drove my car home, I stiffly steered my machine out of the way of three accidents as I rode the brakes the whole way. I could smell my brake pads when I got home.

~Duff McKagan, on his sobriety from “It’s so Easy and other lies” (click here)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Duff McKagan rose to fame as bassist for Guns ‘N’ Roses in 1987, when the band released Appetite for Destruction.
It is is the highest selling debut album of all time in the US, with more than 28 million copies sold worldwide.
Next year’s class of inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will be headlined by Guns N’ Roses, the only group on the ballot to be inducted in their first year of eligibility.  Click here for Cleveland R&RHoF
I’ve been reading Duff McKagan’s autobiography and obviously GN’R partied, but I had no idea how far it had gone for Duff personally.  He is brutally honest, candid and wryly funny in his accounts of his life as bassist of GN’R.
On May 10, 1994, Duff’s pancreas burst and he was told by his doctor if he had one more drink he would die.  He spent two weeks in the hospital recovering and taking small steps in the early stages of detox.  He credits his sobriety in large part to guilt over seeing his mother suffering from worry while he was in critical care.
He describes his recovery from addiction through a love of mountain biking, and his voracious appetite for reading.  He began to write columns for Seattle Weekly, and later many other publications.  For Seattle Weekly McKagan archives, click here.
While in recovery Duff read GN’R financial documents and found he couldn’t understand them.  He decided to enroll in financial accounting courses (got an A in his first class) and discovered his love of academics.  He earned a 4.0 and was on the President’s list, quite an achievement from the earlier addictions he describes in his book.  When he saw a need for musicians to be educated about their financial holdings and business deals, it lead him to start his own wealth management firm, Meridian Rock, to educate musicians and give them the power to make good business decisions on their own behalf.
Duff is a 9 life path, meaning he is in a lifetime of completion.  Nine is the culminated knowledge of all the numbers before it, and is a number of utopian ideals.  Nines are spiritual and often have a lifetime of overcoming difficulties.  They learn how to succeed themselves, in order to teach the world how to do the same.  (I’m a nine too.)
~~~~~~~~~~~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a solar chart, I don’t have the correct birth time, so keep in mind the planets in signs remain the same, houses may change.
First off, I was struck by how Duff has several difficult fixed (ingrained over several lifetimes) squares (inner conflict, obstacles)  involving the Sun (ego, spirit) and Moon (feelings, fluctuation) – they are the luminaries, the conscious (Sun), and unconscious (Moon).
Hopes (Sun) and Dreams (Moon) forming an obstacle to one another.
Moon and Neptune in Scorpio are quiet, secretive and perceptive, if they do not find stimulation, (speaking from my personal experience here; and Duff speaks of facing it in the ring)  they can turn the Scorpio stinger on themselves to feel something, anything.
Moon (habits, instincts) conjunct Neptune can mean addiction in its low vibration, or spiritual healing at its highest vibration.  This conjunction is intuitive, and feels the cosmos coming in.  It is a conjunction that can bring mystical emotions, heightened perceptions, illusions, daydreams and imagination into the waking life 24/7.
Note also the asteroid Dionysus 3671 is opposite Sun and Mars and square Neptune.  Dionysus is symbolic not only of wine and merriment, but also of the sharp pruning of the vine in order for it to bear the best fruit.   Sun (life, spirit), Mars (the blade) and Saturn (pruning) conjunction in Aquarius has indeed led to the bearing of Duff’s best life / fruit.
Coupled with a hedonistic Sun / Mars conjunction in square ( inner tension ) to the often delusional energies of Neptune, that’s one heck of an obstacle.  Sun conjunct Mars is raw power, tempered by Saturn (the tester, restriction, karma) the need to restrict and rein in the wild tendencies inherent to the nature of Aquarius.  That trio of planets in Aquarius, is in itself a hurdle.
Here’s his ace in the hole : Mercury trine Uranus.  Mercury is thinking; Uranus intuition and innovation.  Mercury in good aspect to Uranus is the sign of genius, a quick study.   The mental faculties are very sharp and capable of radical trail-blazing ideas.  Through his love of learning (Mercury is study and is sextile {opportunity} Venus, love) he transformed his life (Sun) his habits, (Moon conjunct Neptune) and his creativity, his love and spiritual health (Venus exalted in Pisces) all by taking the opportunity (sextiles) to learn and stimulate his intellect.
He also took the opportunity (sextile) to keep actively busy through sports (Mars), higher education (Jupiter), and he continually pushes his endurance (Aries) physically in order to improve his self-esteem (Sun).
Duff’s North Node of Destiny is in Cancer, the sign of nurturing.  Once he got himself on his feet, he will push ahead helping others too.  Now Duff is strong in heart, mind, body, and spirit and has a loving family.   He is, by building (Saturn rules building, the earth and rocks)  Meridian Rock  (perfect name- I love it !) reaching out to help his fellow musicians learn how to handle their finances so they can take care of themselves too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Very quickly I want to say a few words about the day Duff was admitted into the hospital with a burst pancreas.  Moon rules the pancreas, and conjunct Neptune in the natal, it can indicate a weakness.  If circumstances in the life and transits activate it, trouble may arise.  Duff speaks in his book of alcoholism and drug use spiraling out of control, and that will further weaken the body.
Transiting Sun 19 Taurus (life-force) was opposite (call for compromise) Moon 19 / Neptune 17 conjunction (addiction) in Scorpio (the house of death and rebirth).  Transiting Moon was also nearing opposition at 11 Taurus.  Transiting Neptune was conjunct natal Mercury (which is trine Uranus in the natal – that’s a wake up call !)   Transiting Pluto and North Node of Destiny were conjunct in Scorpio as well – a call for transformation, rebirth, and rising to meet your destiny.

George’s left hand is forming the Abhaya Mudra : The gesture of protection or fearlessness.
His right hand is forming the Gyan Mudra : Posture of knowledge, instruction by silence or contemplation, gesture of teaching, intuitive knowledge.
Mudra is Sanskrit- it means attitude, gesture or seal.

Sunday morning I was having my am coffee and sitting down to listen to my friend, Debra Clement do her radio show, with her guest psychic medium, Daria Justyn.  I was amazed at Daria’s accuracy in an impromptu reading for Debra, she was very specific in describing family events, including names.

Then came the info regarding George Harrison that tweaked my brain a bit.

Daria was meditating before the show, and the energy of George Harrison came through. !  She relayed her experience during the show, which can be found here:  11:11:11 11/13/11.   (takes a minute to load)
~ > take note this is a show re: 11:11:11 < ~

I’ve transcribed the message from George below:
~~~~~~
He said the world is a reflection of what’s in our hearts.  The global level of change is what we are reflecting from the inside out.  He never expected to be an emissary of peace and love.
Much of his life he felt ‘shackled’.
He tried to find balance – between the shackles – and  freedom to live quietly.
He was an enigma who liked living on the QT.
The enigma was – he wanted to retreat, but also wanted to share the joy of what he was experiencing, what he was learning.   It caused tension in his throat chakra, which Daria felt coming through in her meditation.  Wanting to express yet wanting a quiet life, caused trouble with his throat chakra.
He saw much of his life as black and white- one side was fact and real/ the other fiction and unreal (fame).
The last thing he said was…
Life is black and white – as far as – you are either in the light or the dark.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

~~~~~~~~
What you see pictured above is my studio, so obviously you see I am a Beatles fan.
Now considering I had just written about 11:11/ balance myself, this radio show was covering the same, and I had specifically mentioned there is no black or white / shades of grey, the message from George had a resonance with me.
To put it mildly, lol.  My jaw dropped, I got gooseflesh and my hairs stood on end like tiny little antenna is more like it.
Read the excerpt below from my previous post, see what you think~
~~~~~~~~~~

It’s a matter of polarities.
Yin / yang, positive / negative, attract / repel.
It is a matter of polar opposites finding their balance.
It is an awareness of the choice between the two that counts
There is no black or white in humans.
We are all shades of grey, a fusion of the planetary energies put in place when we were born.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I was posting the above regarding shades of grey, I was a bit uncomfortable with it.   I see creatures/humans as rainbow chakra energy beings, but that didn’t suit my analogy of polarities very well, so I ditched it.
Well, now Mars is Virgo, there were spirit communications between Neptune peeps, and I am tweaking it.
I do find it interesting that not only is transiting Scorpio Sun nearly on top of my natal Neptune (which squares my 8th house Venus / Jupiter), but Mercury is also currently conjunct Venus and North Node in Sagittarius, my 12th house.  The 12th house of receptivity and psychics, and there was communication / love pointing (node) the spiritual way.
SooOo what I should have said was ‘we are all colors of the rainbow, a fusion of the planetary energies put in place when we were born.’ Every moment of our lives is an opportunity to choose love, kindness and understanding instead of fear, hate,  greed, etc..  If an action is conceived with a loving heart than it will bear loving fruits – while anger breeds more anger.
Hence choose the light / rather than the dark side of life.
Thank you Daria and George~
Drive
May I introduce an extremely diverse musician who has been nominated in more categories than any other musician in Grammy history, Mr. Béla Fleck.  Winner of 12 Grammies in categories such as pop, country, jazz and crossover, Bela is a banjo virtuoso.
~~~~~~~
Keep in mind this is a solar chart, I don’t have Bela’s birth time. Planets in the signs remain the same, houses may change.

Bela is a life path 4.  Fours are all about building foundations, stability, and manifestation in the physical universe.

Bela’s intuitive Cancer Sun is quintile (spiritual gifts) his sensate (exalted) Taurus Moon.  He is firing on all cylinders conscious spirit and subconscious instincts dovetailing as he lays down every note !  This quintile is really good because Bela’s Sun is the apex (under pressure) of one of two T-Squares.

T-squares mean the apex planet feels supercharged – it forces creative solutions to manifest the planetary energy.
Sun in the natal represents the spirit, life force, creative expression from the heart.

Bela’s Sun is square (creative tension) Mars (in Aries, the sign Mars rules) and Sun is also square Jupiter (expansion, abundance) in Venus (art) ruled Libra.  Jupiter is opposite (awareness, compromise between energies) power-hungry Aries Mars.

Mars rules Aries, so it is pioneering (Aries, Mars) creative energy (Sun) expressed in a visionary, exploratory way (Jupiter).  Bela’s Mars is not only opposite Jupiter, it also sits on the decan (each 30 degree sign has 3 sub-rulers, called decans) of Jupiter meaning his Mars is steeped in visionary philosophy, luck and abundance.

Mars (drive) is also opposite (creative tension) Neptune (rules string instruments) which is on the decan of Mars.  That apex Sun sits on the Mars decan, too.  Saturn (building over time) is trine (harmony of energies) Mars.  Pluto (fire in the belly metamorph) is on the decan of Mercury, trine Mars.
Mars is also quintile the Midheaven or peak of achievements.
Why, you may ask am I going on & on about Mars…?

Mars rules drums.
A banjo is actually a drum head stretched over a tone ring.

How cool is that ?!   exactly.
*astrology takes a deep bow*

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bela’s second T-Square culminates in not one, but two apex planets- Mercury (communication, dexterity) conjunct Uranus (intuition, electricity [banjo], innovation).
Mercury is thinking, it’s higher octave, Uranus is knowing.  They are tightly conjunct – mainlining each other’s energies !    That’s a lightning fast conjunction of perception and polarities in the creative sign of Leo, the root of willpower.
So communication in both octaves – inside and outside the head – is on fire (leading).  Willpower, and creative self-expression is all systems go.  Day and Night.  (Sun quintile – spiritual gifts from the cosmos- Moon.)
Mercury/Uranus are square the exalted Taurus Moon (Mercury rules sound, Taurus how lovely the sound is) which is opposite Neptune (strings).
Ok, so dig this… Jupiter (visionary ideas) is conjunct North Node of Destiny which is conjunct Neptune (string instruments and the inspired artist).
And, Venus (art, beauty) is trine Jupiter, and the Node of Destiny and Neptune conjunction via the domino effect.
Ba DA Bing !
What I love about the clip below is Bela’s description of the intuitive, inspirational, creative process that comes like a bolt out of the blue ~ gotta bottle it fast , or risk losing it !
Funny, as I was going to write about Victor, the multi-award winning bass player in the Flecktones – don’t worry Victor fans, his chart will be coming later – but when I saw this clip it so perfectly expressed Bela’s tight Mercury Uranus conjunction, I switched paths when his quote inspired me.
Then I looked up the synastry.  Love this !
Bela’s drive (Mars) is opposite (awareness, co-operation) my Mercury (writing).
My Mercury is conjunct his Jupiter, Node of Destiny and Neptune conjunction.  cool.
Thanks for all the groovy tunes and inspiration~
Dirty Sweet
You’re windy and wild, you’ve got the blues in your shoes and your stockings
You’re windy and wild, oh yeah
You’re built like a car, you’ve got a hub cap diamond star halo
You’re dirty sweet and you’re my girl.
~ Bang a Gong, Tyrannosaurus Rex
Mystical poet, story-teller, then later musician, Marc (Feld) Bolan burst onto the british scene in the late 60’s blazing a new trail in rock and roll with a lot a spunk and a sprinkle of glitter.
Charming, aggressive and witty, he wove a cheshire grin spell on legions of T. Rex fans.  An admirer of Syd Barrett (Pink Floyd) and a precursor to Ziggy Stardust days, he was a Tolkien lover who dreamed a magical path with a sexy guitar edge.
Libra Marc Bolan has Sagittarius rising with chart ruler Jupiter (spunky, sexy) in the mystical 12th house with Scorpio (metaphysics/sex).  Marc loved exploring magical, mystical realms and was visionary in weaving poetry, music and the theatrical into his work.  (Check out the doco with Ringo Starr, it’s wacky !)
Moon (imagination) in Aries trine Mars and Pluto (desires/sex) aggressively sexy, opposite Sun conjunct Venus and Neptune, charmingly aggressively sexy.  North Node of Destiny in 6th house Taurus (Venus rules) is creative, sensual communication at work.  Part of Fortune in Gemini indicates the same.
Mars in Cancer at completion degree of 29, in mutual reception with Moon in Aries, he was on a mission to reveal his feelings of passion and love of mysticism.  He really blew the doors off repressive attitudes about what sexual creativity should be.
Libra Sun in 10th career house conjunct Venus and Neptune indicates his brilliant artistry – countless musicians site T. Rex as an influence on their music.  Venus is strong here as Venus rules Libra, Libra sits on the 10th, the natural home of Saturn,  Saturn is exalted in Libra.  Any aspect between Venus (practiced art) and Neptune (inspired art) will reveal the artist.
…you’ve got a universe reclining in your hair…
Sun conjunct Neptune, hello mystical Leo !
(Thom Yorke also has Venus conjunct Neptune (loose- 11 degrees) in Scorpio, both musicians very different, but brilliant songwriters.  Also, my college buddy has Venus conjunct Neptune (4 degrees) and is a brilliant professional sculptural artist.)
Saturn conjunct Pluto in Leo 8th indicates a life-long love of delving deep into the psyche for creative work, conjunct ruler of the 2nd he not only did well in life, but has left a strong musical legacy for future generations.  Saturn is time and conjunct Pluto in Leo, posthumous fame.
Mercury in the 11th trine Uranus in the 7th, Marc had keen instincts in his career, knowing his funky poetry was innovative and sensual and well -suited to rock n roll.
Listen to the interview below and you will see his quiet strength, whimsical demeanor, and a stunning prediction of his future.
This is Moon (intuition) trine Mars (mutual reception- strong) in intuitive Cancer on the 8th of death, Moon trine Pluto conjunct Saturn (intuition of time of death), and Mars trine Jupiter in the 12th (cosmic awareness) square Saturn in Leo the solar (life force) house, in addition to the strong intuitive trine between Mercury and Uranus.
Making Waves
We have a lovely Pisces (Neptune rules) Moon (feelings, public) conjunct chiron (healer) and Neptune (oceans).
Moon and Neptune both trine (harmony) Mercury (messenger of the gods) and Venus (love).
Neptune (oceans) trine Saturn (conservation).
I was cruising Radiohead info and found this great site Project Oceans.
I love it that Radiohead is so incredibly environmentally active – refusing to jet across the globe to play in a television studio – they dial it in – pointedly explaining why to do otherwise is ludicrous.
oh yeah baby I dig you.  My Saturn has a crush on your Saturn.
Obviously, I’m not done talking about how great Thom Yorke (click here for more Thom) is, so pull up a seat Radioheads..!
Thom has Mercury, Venus and Neptune in Scorpio.  Intense and powerfully perceptive, he is able to read the collective pulse (Mercury, Neptune, Venus in Scorp) of unconscious human need (Mercury opp Moon) and forge (Pluto rules Scorp) new tools for building a more environmentally (Saturn conjunct Moon) sound future for us all.
That Virgo stellium is a powerhouse !
Virgos appreciate life in all its forms.  They see the web of life, the sacred patterns present from the micro to the macro scale.  They are earthy healers here to serve and protect.
Thom has Virgo Mars (desires, action), Jupiter (hope, philosophy) conjunct Pluto (the big game-changer, regeneration) and Uranus (the wild and free).  He is progressive and pioneering, a leader in the environmental movement from a musicians standpoint.  The band has taken solid steps to cut the amount of carbon emissions they produce during touring, as well as backing ecowatch groups and artists programs raising awareness on global warming.
Thom has Libra Sun (balance) opposite Aries Moon which is conjunct Saturn (Earth).  Moon and Saturn have a Mars flavor which brings a militant attitude toward finding balance with the public (Moon) and Earth (Saturn).
Libra Sun opposite Aries Moon conjunct Saturn – all are in Cardinal signs – they are initiating plans of action and making waves.
Thom is a number 5 life path, and has a 5 Sun.
5= Change, flux and adjustment
His Moon is 7 = Divine order, the mystical, a turning point.
Sevens are the triumph of spirit over matter.
Spirit (Sun) in the sign of balance (Libra) using art and music (Venus rules) to shine a reflection toward the masses (Moon) of what humankind is unconsciously doing to our (Mother, Moon) planet (Saturn, Earth).
I’m glad you were born to spin around on the planet with us, thank you.
Amazing, yeah !
Saturn incense is smoking up the room, candles are lit, music playing.
This one goes out to those with Saturn Rx (retrograde) in Aries; North Node of destiny in Aries.
According to the books, Saturn in Aries falls, pessimistic bastards may as well say fails.  They say the default setting of Saturn is to restrict, to limit, basically to stop. Saturn is terra firma and crystallization.  Eh, they’re half right.
When Saturn is in the sign of Aries, which is ruled by Mars, the planet of getting things done, kicking your life into gear seems damn near impossible some days.  Stubborn jackass Saturn is diggin’ in for the long haul no matter how hard Mars pulls at the reins.  You may be awhile, pack a lunch.
Saturn rules time – it is the planet of testing, perfecting, concentration and discipline.  It is justice, thrift and preservation, and patience.
Mars needs running, fighting, blowing stuff up and is impulse on fire NOW !
NO WAITING !!
Saturn Rx in Aries is restriction, testing and perfection turned inward on the self.   It turns the extroverted Mars power into introverted power, anger and aggression.
It becomes a driving need to JUST DO IT perfectly.
The first time – no waiting !
Retrograde Saturn serves to temper action, perfect and streamline it.  When Saturn governs the self will, Mars is practiced, perfected, and efficient before its action will be allowed to manifest outward.  Saturn is where you perfect the house energies; Saturn Rx is where you perfect the house energies to the point of over compensation.
Saturnian self-doubt and insecurity can slow the energies of planets it contacts, or the house in which it is placed.  Although, it is often where you are extremely capable, insanely talented and precise yet remain unaware of it.
I was surprised to hear Thom at the end of this video asking for validation, let’s face it- he’s a musical genius.  We both have Aries Saturn Rx, so I get it, the need for validation, for outside opinion.  Perfectionism is also running high in his chart with a Virgo stellium: Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Pluto.   Yeah, check. Get that too.
North Node of Destiny in Aries indicates a person who will create a life path of developing self awareness, independence and leadership.
It is a path of making decisions, taking control and blazing new trails.
Happy Birthday Thom !
You are amazingly talented with the voice of an angel…I am under your spell.
