Better the devil you know than the one you don’t. 

Saturn has one hell of a nasty rep.  * see horns  ^
Who wouldn’t love  restriction, responsibilities, duty, and being an olde sour pessimistic, melancholy workaholic cuss ! ! . . ?! . . . anyone ?  haha yeeeah. exactly.

I was thinking the other day this ‘devil you know business’ may as well be my anthem, code, motto whatever.  Why ?  Well, being the child of 2 Capricorn Suns, and a Cap rising myself, I have had Saturn up my nostril since. . . well, ever.

YeeHAW Not.

I have Saturn retrograde in its fall in Aries 3rd.  For non – astro folks, that translates as self (1st house) restrictions on any and all actions (Mars rules Aries) and thinking (3rd house is thinking).  Is why I go on & On & ON  about mindful thoughts and morphing the business model in the brainpan to a more happy blissful state.

Ya know, Saturn is the new sunshine and rainbows and all that jazz. 

Saturn IS actually helpful – it keeps us tethered to this planet, makes juice into concentrate, it’s the groovy trick that keeps us from flying out of the Round UP rides.

Ahem. but seriously, what got me started on this Saturn post ?

Nah, just kidding, I will obviously live with Saturn, but you get my point.  Lots and lots of work, but Saturn requires it.  The rewards are great, a job well done, self- satisfaction, you know, that sittin’ on top of the world  thang.

Saturn in Aries or 1st house: head trauma, accidental violence, facial scars, dentists drill, migraines, fumbling the ball or worse yet – an interception

Saturn in Taurus or 2nd house: choking, poverty, deadlines, unreliability, theft of personal objects, frenetic jazz and or opera crescendos

Saturn in Gemini or 3rd house: asphyxiation, inability to communicate, being pigeonholed or illogical, stuck in a corner with boring people who never shut up

Saturn in Cancer or the 4th: loss of family, fear of childbirth, insensitivity, confrontation, empty nest, feeling alone and hungry without cheese

Saturn in Leo or the 5th: bad love affairs, heart trouble, lack of willpower, being ignored, cowardice, loss of good looks, breaking mirrors, back burner, bad hair days

Saturn in Virgo or 6th house:  illness, being dispensable, impracticability, faulty logic, causing harm, having nothing to clean, organize or fix, crooked pictures on the wall

Saturn in Libra or 7th house: injustice, imbalance, insincerity, inequality, making decisions, filth, relationship chains, excessive body hair, mis-matched clothes

Saturn in Scorpio or 8th house: loss of power or control, shallowness, being exposed, unfulfilled desires, lack of sex or obsessing about lack of sex, milk toast

Saturn in Sagittarius or 9th house:  inability to roam far and wide, ethical crossfire, detailed work that requires finesse, intellectual joke fail, last call

Saturn in Capricorn or 10th house: career fail, breaking bones, losing teeth, coming in second place, being irresponsible, incompetence, disloyalty, taking orders, vacations

Saturn in Aquarius or 11th house: intellectual stagnation, being unoriginal or uninteresting, not knowing purpose in universe, surrender to apathy, status quo

Saturn in Pisces or 12th house: confinement, being forced into beliefs, large crowds,  too busy to daydream, spiritual constriction, lack of REM, concentration, reality

Some of the Saturnian things above are in jest, but all are shades of truth. Hope you find it insightful / delightful more than frightful.   Each is a general read – not taking into account your personal natal chart and aspects, which will reveal many layers beyond the above.

My Saturn is Aries 3, so I read both Aries / 3rd house to flesh out my Saturn bones.

Jeff Bridges

May I introduce Sagittarian actor, musician, vintner and artist Jeff Bridges.  Jeff was born into a family of actors, his Mom, Dad and his older brother, Beau.  Jeff made his first onscreen appearance at the tender age of four months.

His first big break was in The Last Picture Show, when he became one of the youngest actors ever to be nominated for an Academy Award at age 22 (1971, Best Supporting Actor, The Last Picture Show), and at age 60, Jeff became one of the oldest ever to win (2010, Best Actor, Crazy Heart).

I just watched True Grit and of course, loved it.  I loved Starman and have been to Barringer crater, which is featured in the movie, and it’s fabulous !
Starmans expression when he tried Dutch Apple Pie..?  Priceless.

I loved The Last Picture Show, Fearless, The Big Lebowski, (obviously a classic), The Fisher King, Men Who Stare at Goats, Tron, the list goes on and on…
I have spent my life watching Jeff light up the screen, so I wasn’t too surprised to find out he’s a Sagittarius.
(I am a Sagittarius magnet, it seems, I am naturally prone to fancy them, since I have lots of Sag energy myself.)

Jeff is a life path 3 (the zero adds power) which is a path of growth, flowering, and new directions unfolding out of the balance of 2.

He is a Virgo rising, with chart ruler Mercury in the 4th trine Pluto in creative Leo, on the 11th (natural house of Aquarius) a visionary placement for an artist.  Sun (exact conjunct Chiron) trine Pluto from the nadir (conjunction straddles the 3/4th) and Jeff is a natural gypsy story-teller (4th is the house of Cancer, they can spin a yarn like no other) with an optimistic heart.  Through his craft, he shows others how to heal themselves through communicating the need for loving acceptance of the natural human beauty found within us all.  (The nadir is the deep well of self, where and how we restore balance, trine Pluto in 11th.)

He shines a light on human relationships through his exquisite ability to morph and change in the public eye.  Gemini at mid-heaven and Jeff can fully embody chameleon-like qualities for his career – this is particularly evident with Uranus (polarities and change) elevated as well as Moon (fluctuation, imagination).

Uranus in the 10th has no major aspects – making Jeff a mavericks maverick !  Uranus is rebellious and innovative and without major aspects reigning it in, it is truly wild and free !  Having Uranus quintile the Ascendant gives him the ability to be unpredictable in the eyes of others via work and career.  This quality is further shown by his predominately mutable chart. The quincunx to the artistic Venus (art in the 29th or culmination degree) Jupiter conjunction in the creative 5th house (Sun – creativity – naturally rules) gives Jeff a super – charged ability to build a life – long eclectic career in the arts.
I am tickled Jeff has Venus conjunct Jupiter, because I do as well, but in Leo !  He is very well liked by his co-stars (Venus is kind /Jupiter expands), and is described as exceptionally easygoing (Sagittarius).

His craft is deep and thoughtful (Pluto ruling 3rd) and he derives a tremendous strength from family (strong Nadir placements, Moon trine Venus and Jupiter).  He has been especially influenced by males (Sun trine Pluto) and had worked very close with both his father and brother throughout his life (Mars conjunct Saturn).

He is known for working hard, and when young appeared on his fathers television show, Sea Hunt  with his brother on several occasions (Mars conjunct Saturn conjunct Ascendant). Squares from the Mars Saturn conjunction to Moon at the mid-heaven represents the Sagittarius need to explore his own path, make his own mark with the public (Moon).  Neptune in Venus-ruled Libra trine Moon in 9th and Jeff documents his films and travels on film, he is an avid photographer.

Sun at the nadir opposite Moon at mid-heaven shows that he loves his home life a great deal, but his restless nature calls him out to learn and communicate his feelings through his work.  North Node of Destiny in Aries (Mars rules) and Jeff has a path before him of blazing new trails in showing the depth of human nature (8th) through his work (Mars conjunct Saturn).

Saturn day

Emmylou – I just love to hear her sing…
She’s an Aries with Cancer rising which means her chart ruler is Moon.  It is strongly placed for a singer in the 2nd house the natural house of Taurus which rules the throat.

Interestingly, Saturn (time, grey hair) is in her 1st house of ‘how you look’ conjunct Ascendant in Leo (hair, mane), and she started turning prematurely grey in her early 20’s.

Neptune (compassion, the hidden) trine Uranus (committment to human rights) in the 11th (Uranus squares Mars landmines) both Uranus and Neptune are placed in air signs (communication) which shows her work through her music in removing landmines world-wide.  http://www.emmylou.net/jam.html

Moon in Virgo (pets) and yes, Emmylou is a PETA supporter.   Emmylou has Venus (love, art) Mercury  (communication) and Mars (action) all in Pisces (spiritual healers) showing her grassroots activism in improving the world for all of us.

Emmylou has expansive Jupiter in Scorpio as focal planet of a T-square with Moon in Virgo and Venus in Pisces – she is an exceptional singer / songwriter (Venus/Pisces)who has collaborated with many talented friends (Venus) through the years.  She has recorded and jammed just about everyone in Nashville.

This post is for my Capricorn Dad, on Father’s day, and my former husband, Eric.  My Dad and I had our Saturns conjunct, while Eric gives my Saturn his lucky Jupiter.
