To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour.
– William Blake (fragment from Auguries of Innocence)

Dandelions
aka: Blow-ball, Cankerwort, Lion’s Tooth, Priest’s Crown, Wild Endive.
Venus and Jupiter rule Dandies.
Astrological
Primary: Pisces, Sagittarius
Secondary: Aquarius, Gemini, Libra
Medical *
Diuretic, tonic.
Dandelion in the diet aids anemia and helps stabilize the blood sugar. A warm water infusion is a good tonic for the liver and gallbladder. Dandelion wine will knock you on yer ass, because the diuretic quality drives the fluids out of your body so the alcohol hits you faster.
The milky sap from the stem of the dandelion can be used to cure warts, rub it directly on the wart daily until the wart disappears. The sap can also be used in the same way to treat (fade) liver spots.
Dandelion leaves and roots produce mannitol, which is used to treat hypertension. The leaves / roots must be collected in spring (about mid-March to mid-May) and used to make tea. Bring water to a boil, toss in cut roots for one minute, remove from heat, add leaves and steep for 40 minutes. Strain and drink.
Dandelion flowers contain helenin, vitamins A and B-2 (riboflavin), which can help improve night blindness. Steep freshly picked flowers in a pint of hot water for 20 minutes, strain and drink.

Dandelions also have other fun uses…
Fortune telling:
To know how much your lover cares for you, blow the seeds off the head – if they all blow into the wind you are well loved, if any remain – your lover has doubts.
Wishing seeds:
Blow the seeds into the wind – the breath of life will deliver messages to your loved one.
Clocks:
Dandelions always open about 5am, and shut at 8pm, serving as a clock for the shepard.
Barometers:
Clocks open and fluffy means fine weather, when they close tightly, rain is due.
